Angelina Jolie dazzles in super short dress (but covers the secret inner thigh tattoo she had inked on for Brad Pitt)
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt took a break from saving the world to walk the red carpet at the premiere of her new film Salt in Los Angeles last night.
The golden couple, who have six children, lit up the Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood as they signed autographs and chatted with fans.
But Brad, 46, who recently shaved his long beard to the delight of his many fans, was clearly cast in the supporting role.
It was Angelina's time to shine in a dazzling black sequinned mini-dress that put her legs on show.
But the sequinned Armani confection wasn't short enough to reveal the new tattoo she has on her inner thigh, a secret tribute to her partner.
The 35-year-old showed a hint of the ink in a recent photoshoot for Vanity Fair but declined to reveal what it said.
When quizzed about the etching last week, a coy Angelina would only say: ‘Um, it’s for Brad.’
The star now has a total of 14 tattoos, including the map co-ordinates detailing the countries of birth of her adopted children Maddox eight, Pax, six, and Zahara, five; and biological kids, Shiloh, four, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 23-months-old.
Her father Jon Voight also made a surprise appearance on the red carpet, along with her brother James Haven.
The famously fiery father and daughter recently reconciled after years of estrangement which began in 2001 when he said she had 'serious mental problems.'
Clean shaven Brad showed his support of partner Angelina at the premiere, and the pair got touch feely with the handsome actor looking completely enamoured with the mother of six.
But there were as many screams for a fresh-faced Brad, who rolled back the years with his chiselled hair-free look.
The golden couple spent time chatting to fans and signing autographs on Hollywood Boulevard.
Angelina plays a CIA officer in the film whose loyalty is tested when she is accused of being a Russian spy.
But the actress - now Hollywood's only mainstream female action star - said at home she is happy to simply be a 'mom'.
'It's a little funny to me privately, when I'm home with my kids and I just feel like somebody's mom. It's kind of funny. But when I'm working, I feel very empowered and I love to do it,' she said.
However, she also admitted that her children were 'a little disturbed' to see footage from her new film Salt.
'I can't show my kids movies where people are trying to kill me,' the mother-of-six laughed. The actress explained: 'They saw a clip and they were a little disturbed.'
'They liked the fun part of it, they came to set and they liked to see me do stunts but in the clip there's someone tying my feet up and they didn't like it,' the star continued.
Angelina and Brad arrived early to the screening and spent the majority of their time signing autographs for fans and posing for pictures.
Screaming fans reached such a frenzy that police had to hold up barricades protecting the power couple as the pair's security helped lift young children, who were crying amid the chaos, out of the crowds.
Angelina confessed she was planning to get back to her own kids as soon as she possibly could.
She said: '[We're staying] for a little bit of an after-party but we've got to get them out of the door for school, for camp tomorrow.'
Meanwhile, the actress is already thinking ahead to her next movie, which will see her take on the part of Cleopatra.
Elizabeth Taylor's portrayal of the iconic Egyptian queen in the 1963 movie earned critical acclaim, and Jolie said her take on Cleopatra will be very different.
She told the New Straits Times: 'I will play it differently to Elizabeth Taylor, but I could never be as lovely as she was.
'We are trying to uncover the truth about her as a leader and not just a sex symbol which she really wasn't - she didn't have many lovers, maybe only two, and they're men she had children with.'
She added: 'She was misunderstood and her life story was written wrongly. I always thought her life was very glamorous.
'Then I read her story and found a different side to her - that she was a mother, leader and an intellect who spoke five languages!
'Her upbringing also reflected her relationship with Rome - all that is much more interesting than what she was summed up to be.'
