Emma Watson Cut Hair For Lead Role In “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”

Emma Watson’s new ‘do has more to do with career advancement than setting off a new style trend.

Emma is vying against other actresses — including Ellen Page, Natalie Portman, Carey Mulligan, and Kristen Stewart — for the coveted lead role in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, the silver screen adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s best-selling novel.

Watson, who shot to fame as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films hit the Web last week to debut a new mane of carefully chopped locks. Hollywood snoops say Emma’s hoping the pixie-style crop will demonstrate her desire for the role to Dragon producers and help her bag the part of computer hacker Lisbeth Salander in the

“Emma has auditioned with director David Fincher and cut her hair to look the part. The character of Lisbeth is a misfit with spiky hair….”

Why the Verizon iPhone Is Already Too Late

Verizon might get an iPhone this January? It's about time. Or is it too late? New reports show that Android is eating the iPhone's lunch. And by clinging to AT&T, Apple is effectively serving that lunch on a shiny silver platter.

For a decade, Apple played Ice Man in a calculated dogfight of product design and marketing. It rarely made a misstep, and its successes were legendary as a result. This year, Apple has not shown itself to be so level-headed.

You could cite Antennagate or the missing white iPhone as evidence Apple is losing its cool, but these are mishaps, destined to follow previous iPhonapocalypses and Applegeddons into the void of the forgotten past. No, the biggest reason is that it miscalculated how much a prolonged exclusivity with AT&T would cost. The deal has been lucrative - God knows AT&T pays well for the privilege - but the downside has been that Apple has let a reasonable iPhone copy become the No. 1 selling smart phone platform in America.

Britney Spears to Have Cameo in "Glee"

'Glee' and Britney Spears fans alike have been counting down the seconds until the show's homage to the legendary pop star airs this fall, and now it seems there's even more reason to celebrate. According to Ryan Seacrest, 'Glee' creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed that Britney herself will be appearing on the show.

"Britney, I think 100 percent, is going to be on the episode [for a] couple of scenes," Murphy revealed to Seacrest in a radio interview Tuesday. Murphy also divulged that many of the Britney Spears numbers the cast will perform will actually be hallucinations while under anesthesia at the dentist, played by John Stamos. "They have fantasies of how they can be like her," Murphy said.

Still no word on how large or what kind of role Britney will be playing but at least one duet is certainly in order. Perhaps Brit will play a rival cheerleading coach to shake up Sue Silvester's world? We can only hope. Also in the cards for the successful show? Tribute episodes to Prince, The Beatles and Michael Jackson. Epic!

I've Completely Ditched My iPad For the iPhone 4

Three months ago I couldn't imagine a life without my iPad's big beautiful screen. Today, I am living that life, having ditched my iPad for the iPhone 4, almost completely. What the shit.

It's mostly the screen. The res is the same, but I really got used to not being able to pick out the pixels on the tight little package. With the bumper, the iPhone's handfeel better for casual use than the iPad with its deceptively dense form factor that is hard to hold with one hand, as you would a magazine or other object of that size.

GP Basic unveils debut MV teaser

K-pop’s upcoming girl group, GP Basic, recently revealed their maknae and lead members, Janey and Hannah. GP Basic has garnered a lot of interest before their debut due to the fact that all of the six members of the group still attend high school, and are shockingly at the average age of 15.

Today, a MV teaser for their debut single, Game, was revealed! As you will see below, the teaser introduces each of the members as they showcase their dance moves and the track’s beats.

Check it out below!

Lee Seung Gi to kiss ‘Nine-Tailed Fox’ Shin Min Ah in the first episode

Lee Seung Gi and Shin Min Ah’s new drama My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox is just around the corner of premiering its first episode on the 11th. To further hype the drama, it has been revealed that the two will kiss on the first episode!

Many are anticipating their kiss to gain a lot of attention like last year’s candy kiss that was done by Lee Byung Hun and Kim Tae Hee in the drama IRIS.

A representative of the drama stated, “In the drama, this kiss will save Lee Seung Gi who is injured and is at risk. Through watching this kiss scene, you will feel both excited and nervous at the same time.”

Dell Streak to go on sale August 13th, $300 on-contract, $550 off-contact

Well it wasn’t “late July” after all. Dell have officially announced that preorders for the Streak for AT&T will start this Thursday. Dell’s Android-powered smartphone or tablet (depending on how you want to look at it) will be available on Friday.

Pricing is as we previously reported: $299 with an AT&T contract, or $549 without.

Dell and AT&T are clearly pricing this as a tablet, however given that its screen size is only 1″ bigger diagonally than the countless Samsung Galaxy S versions, which all cost $199 on their respective carriers, that may be a questionable decision to say the least. Sure, if you compare it to the iPad’s price, the Dell is doing rather well. But is one inch of screen really worth $100? That’s the big question here, and even more so given that the Streak’s and the Samsungs’ resolution is the same, despite the size difference.

Time will tell for sure.

iPod touch coming in a 'few weeks' with dual cameras and Retina Display, suggests John Gruber

The sun will rise, pigeons will annoy, and Daring Fireball's John Gruber will get inside scoops on Apple product releases. So it goes. This time he's touching on, erm, the iPod touch, making an offhand (though firmly declarative) comment on a post about the Dell Streak: "if you wait a few weeks to buy the Touch, you'll get one with a Retina Display and dual cameras." The man's not one to fool around with such matters, so we tend to believe him here. It also helps that nothing he's saying would be really surprising -- a new iPod in September? With features trickled down from the most recent iPhone? Then again, that camera has proved elusive before.

Jackie Chan breaks silence on 'cancer shampoo'

International star Jackie Chan has broken his silence on the allegedly cancer-causing Bawang brand hair shampoo that he endorses.

During an appearance at the Shanghai International Film Prototype Art Charity Auction on Sunday, the action star said: "Incidents like this, where shampoos are reported to have problems, are not new. Someone is trying to harm me and Bawang. It's like when I make a film, my opponents will surely say it is bad. This is very common."

Hong Kong media had reported in July that samples of Bawang brand Chinese medicated shampoo and products from its Royal Wind brand had been tested and found to contain 1,4-Dioxane, which is classified by the US Department of Health and Human Services as a probable carcinogen (cancer-causing agent).

These negative reports caused a public outcry and even resulted in Bawang's stocks being suspended from trading in Hong Kong after its share price dived by almost 18 per cent at one point.

Chan, the spokesperson for the Bawang shampoo which claims to have anti-hair loss properties, and Chinese singer Faye Wong, the spokesperson for Royal Wind, had also come under fire for endorsing the allegedly harmful products.

Due to legislation passed last year, they may be legally liable if the product one endorses is not up to scratch.

Can The iPhone Get You Laid?

Yes, OKCupid’s data confirms our suspicions, iPhone users do “do it” more, at a rate of about 2x that of Android users. Perhaps this is because the Android has an easily accessible porn app store?

Presumably iPhone users are better at getting their kicks in real life. But the chart still leaves the greatest question of our time unanswered, “Do attractive people buy more iPhones, or does the iPhone somehow make you more attractive?” In any case, maybe it’s time some of us reconsidered our gadget predilections.

Scarlett Johansson Vs. Blake Lively For ‘Gravity’

Scarlett Johansson vs. Blake Lively For Gravity

In a clawing match between two Hollywood hotties, it seems Blake Lively has some explaining to do. During ComicCon, while promoting the Green Lantern, the Gossip Girl professed her admiration for Ryan Reynold’s wife. Lively suggested to MTV.com that she and Scarlett team to exchange fighting tactics. Insiders insist that the press was just a cover to land the lead in the upcoming thriller ‘Gravity.’

A source told NY Daily news that Johannson was signed on to star in the Alfonso Cuaron sci-fi production but Lively still approached him to try to cut into to the deal before it was made official.

HP readying WebOS tablet for early 2011?

A few tidbits about Hewlett-Packard's plan for WebOS are leaking out from a company meeting held Monday.

Engadget said Tuesday it heard from several "trusted sources" present at the all-hands employee meeting that HP Senior Vice President Todd Bradley pointed to the first quarter of 2011 for when the company would be shipping a tablet loaded with WebOS. The sources also reported that the internal code name for the project is Hurricane.

Bradley, the former CEO of Palm, heads up HP's Personal Systems Group, which absorbed Palm in July, along with its mobile operating system, WebOS. HP has said from the moment it announced the acquisition that it planned to use WebOS in a variety of ways across its consumer product lines, including tablets, Web-connected printers, and smartphones.

HP CTO Shane Robison reiterated that last week at the Techonomy conference. He told CNET that while WebOS may also eventually be an option on Netbooks, it won't replace Windows for people looking to do productivity tasks.

Samsung Galaxy Tab will be officially announced at the beginning of September

We'd already heard that Samsung's 7-inch Android-based tablet (apparently known as the Galaxy Tab) would be rolling out sometime in the third quarter of this year, and it looks like we now also know when it'll be making its official debut. According to South Korea's JoongAng Daily, an unnamed "high-ranking official" at Samsung has confirmed that the device will be officially unveiled at IFA, which kicks off September 3rd in Berlin. No more new details beyond that, unfortunately, but previous reports have suggested that the device will match its smartphone counterpart with an AMOLED display, and boast some decent specs across the board, including Android 2.2, a 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor, 16GB of on-board memory, and both WiFi and 3G connectivity.

Nintendo Wii 2 Coming in 2011, Featuring HD Output and Blu-ray?

Hot on the heels that Nintendo has managed to sell 30 million units of the wildly popular Nintendo Wii (here in the US), comes a new rumor, mingling with an old one. Nothing wrong with that — if you hear a rumor enough, doesn’t it mean it has to come true? In the case of the Wii, which at the moment doesn’t support HD gaming (or anything, for that matter), it’s that jump to high definition that’s got some people firing up the rumor mill yet again.

While we’ve heard Nintendo go on the record and say that a next-generation Wii is still a ways off, there’s no reason to think that they’re being serious. After all, throwing everyone off, and giving them a huge surprise is part of the fun. Supposedly, the Wii 2 will not only be able to support HD output, but it will also have a Blu-ray drive tucked away inside. Now, we’re all for believing that Nintendo, as a whole, would love to get into the HD aspect of gaming and what not, but adding that Blu-ray player just puts a wrench in the whole system.

Rihanna ties Gaga, Beyonce, Mariah for no. 1 pop radio hits

As MTV reports today, Good Girl Gone Bad Rihanna has gone good enough to qualify for a pretty rarefied status: With Eminem duet “Love the Way You Lie,” the Barbadian songstress has now officially had six #1 songs on the Pop Songs radio airplay chart.

Other artists with a Radio Divas Sixer membership in their wallet alongside the black AmEx and Sam’s Club card include Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, and Beyonce. (The latter two actually achieved it together with their “Telephone” collab earlier this year, though technicalities aside, Mimi is far and away the winner, having earned six no. 1 songs on the Hot 100 before the creation of the Pop Songs chart in 1993, and six after.)

Members of the next-tier-down posse include Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, and Pink, all with five no. 1′s.

BEAST’s Comeback Pushed Back to September

Beast has been announced to comeback in September.

Although originally planned to make a comeback in August, while adjusting the title song and album songs, BEAST’s comeback has been postponed. The reason for insistingly taking over the producers’ job was in order to establish a kind of album that belongs to them alone.

BEAST’s company, Cube Entertainment representatives told T-News “We carefully selected good songs to put into the album. However it didn’t feel like Beast’s personal style, and has a scattered feeling with a combination of several different styles. As a result, we are reworking the title song, etc. to make it represent Beast’s colours, completely.”

For this album, several songs of different genres have been compiled ranging from ballads to dance tunes. In particular, it has been revealed that the title song is a song that exceeds the level of their previous hit songs, ‘Shock’, ‘Mystery’, etc and will be a song that can clearly reveal Beast’s colours. Anticipation over the song is extremely high. In addition, the ballad song, of course, has been described as a song that reflects the singing skills of the members who remain strong even in MR (music removed) videos.

A lot of attention is focusing on BEAST who will be returning with improved abilities and high-quality music.
