Emma Watson’s new ‘do has more to do with career advancement than setting off a new style trend.

Emma is vying against other actresses — including Ellen Page, Natalie Portman, Carey Mulligan, and Kristen Stewart — for the coveted lead role in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, the silver screen adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s best-selling novel.

Watson, who shot to fame as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films hit the Web last week to debut a new mane of carefully chopped locks.
