Palm Pixi: zero dollars with two-year contract on Sprint

This doesn't really come as a surprise, but it's welcome news regardless. Sprint is now offering the Palm Pixi free with a two-year contract on its website. The deal isn't to be had in retail stores quite yet, but we assume that's also in the cards as well. The Pixi -- which has a slower processor than the Pre and lacks WiFi -- is a handset we always thought was destined for the zero dollars on contract scheme, so like we said, we're not surprised. Regardless, if you've been wanting a Pixi but couldn't stand the idea of laying out any cash for it, well, now's your chance.

Here's how to install Android on your iPhone 2G

Last week, planetbeing claimed he'd ported Android to the iPhone. This week, Android A Lot says you can, too. If you've got an original iPhone 2G handy, there's now a 68-step guide that can walk you through the entire process. In a nutshell, you'll use iPhone Explorer to copy over the Android files, then turn your Mac or PC into an Ubuntu virtual machine to install the OpeniBoot software. When you're done, you'll probably have a dual-booting iPhone that can swap between iPhone OS and an experimental version of Android 1.6 at startup, but don't quote us on that -- we haven't had a chance to test the unholy matrimony for ourselves. We're going to try to give this a shot next week, and we'll report back from the other side... if there is another side. Blurry video walkthrough after the break, useful step-by-step text at our source link.

TVB Series 'Fly With Me' Is Accused Of 7 Things

Although it only aired 5 episodes, but many netizens and viewers are already criticizing TVB's new series "Fly With Me" (飛女正傳) of copying other shows and movies.

No. 1: 99% alike
Plot and promotion clips of "FWM" and Uma Thurman's "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" are very much alike. Janet Bin (played by Ada Choi) is just like Uma Thurman in the movie, usually appeared in normal attire, OL look, but they will gain a perfect body and face and super powers after transformation.

No. 2: 95% alike
Janet Bin in "FWM" has super powers and can protect others without any weapon, which is similar to characters in "Hancock" and "Superman."

No. 3: 90% alike
The scene where Janet Bin used her hands to block bullets is just like the classic scene in "Matrix" where Keanu Reeves did the same thing.

No. 4: 90% alike
The look of silver-haired doctor, played by Moses Chan, is exactly like the lead in Japanese manga "Black Jack." Also, Janet Bin's outfit is accused of copying Maggie Cheung in "The Heroic Trio"

'Dragon' Wings It Back to No. 1 With $15 Million

Jennifer Lopez wasn't the first choice of most weekend moviegoers.

The star's The Back-Up Plan grossed a not-great, but not-unexpected $12.3 million, per box-office estimates, and settled for second behind the sturdy How to Train Your Dragon ($15 million).

Elsewhere, The Losers looked lost, while Jennifer Aniston left—and joined—the Top 10. More results:

Watch out, Jesus! Madonna films a fashion advert with another young man on her arm

As a woman determined to cling on to her youth, it's no surprise to see Madonna with a young man hanging off her arm.

And it's enough to get her toyboy lover Jesus Luz worrying that he's been traded in for an even younger model than himself.

But the Brazilian can breathe a sigh of relief as Madonna was just filming an advert for Italian designers Dolce and Gabbana.

Madonna, 51, was in Harlem, New York last week, shooting the latest campaign for the fashion house's Autumn/Winter womenswear collection 2010.

The campaign takes the singer back to her roots, appearing in the ads as an Italian homemaker, getting her young man to help her carry he fruit and veg.

Masochist Runs Windows XP On an iPad

First there was Windows 95 on an iPad. People cringed, but apparently they did not cringe enough, as someone else has managed to get Windows XP up and running on an iPad. Macheads, avert thy eyes!

The "someone" in this case is Dave Soble, CEO of Evolve Technologies. He was crowing about his "accomplishment" on the Facebook late last week, and the fruits of his labor here:

The Age Of Facebook

Two years ago I was on the Charlie Rose show and we talked about, among other startups and trends, Facebook. It wasn’t clear then that Facebook had what it took to become one of the great technology companies. They had conquered the college market and were destroying the hopes and dreams of MySpace. But they were also reeling from the Beacon debacle and hadn’t proven that they could turn those massive reach and page view numbers into sustainable revenue streams.

You can watch the whole discussion about Facebook, which begins at about the 22:00 mark. But the key question I asked then was, “Will Facebook Have their Google moment?” I was referring to Google’s ability to pair awesome search in the late nineties with, later, an amazing business model – a bidding system for text ads. In 2008 it was clear that Facebook had taken the first step and changed our culture, possibly permanently. But it wasn’t at all clear that they would create the massive revenue streams to allow them to effectively dominate tech culture.

Dell Sparta and Athens netbooks, Looking Glass Pro and Streak variants teased in Android roadmap

Good morning to you too, Dell! Android Central's just gotten hold of yet another leak from the Texan computer giant, only this time we have two new Android or Linux (as suggested by the Tux icon) Moblin devices. First, we have the Sparta netbook tablet featuring an 11-inch 1024 x 768 TFT display, ARM processor, optional connectivity modules (3G, WiFi, Bluetooth) and a unique swivel mechanism -- the screen appears to be rotatable within its frame. The second device is the Athens sub-0.9kg (1.98 pounds) netbook sporting the same screen size, ARM processor and optional connectivity modules. If all goes well, the Sparta and Athens should be launched in early and late Autumn respectively, but there's a lot more so keep reading after the break.

Another semi-new device is the 7-inch Looking Glass Pro Android tablet, which appears to be just the Looking Glass with an "HD screen" and digital TV tuner by default. The dotted line around this variant's roadmap window suggests its Q1 2011 release date isn't set in stone (if it ever comes out, that is). Regardless, we're rather puzzled by a couple of spots here: the 800 x 600 resolution contradicts with the 800 x 480 in the slides we received, and likewise with the August-October launch window here rather than the November launch date that we were told.

Mnet reveals, “Songs Lee Hyori accused of plagiarism are actually demo songs illegally leaked out”
