Miley Cyrus Ear Tattoo “Drowns Out Negativity”

Miley Cyrus is spilling the beans about her new ear tattoo — which apparently isn’t so “new” after all.

Although the blogosphere only caught sight of Miles latest ink — the word “Love” on her right ear — when the Disney starlet made her way through Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday, the beleaguered pop tart added the tat to her growing assortment of body art months ago.

“Everyone’s a little behind the times. I’ve had this for a few months and no one’s ever noticed.”

The "Probable" Truth on Lindsay's Drinking

Hate to sound bitchy, but when Lindsay Lohan's attorney dished to E! that the oft-troubled, sometime actress was "doing really well at being sober and clean," we couldn't help but be skeptical.

For starters, why the hell would Judge Revel double Lindsay's bail if she were as squeaky-clean as Team Lohan wants us to believe? And if those five probation violations weren't for tossing back a few court-banned brews, what the ef were they for?

So it's no surprise that the legitimacy of Lohan's latest urine sample is coming into question:

Yesterday morning, Radar Online reported that Lindsay's blood-alcohol level was anywhere between .03 and .04 when, as we first reported, her flashy SCRAM bracelet went off at Katy Perry's post-MTV Movie Awards bash.

Obviously that means the babe was boozin', so how did her pee prove she was perfectly sober?

"It's not just possible, but probable, that someone would have a .00 BAC the morning after drinking, even earlier than a 10 a.m. test," Kathleen Brown of the Alcohol Monitoring Services tells E! News.

Kristen Stewart's Little Black Eclipse World Tour

Kristen Stewart has come a long way on the red carpet since the first Twilight movie.

Remember the slouching, the awkward hands, the annoyed faces back in the day? Oof! It was rough watching the rookie stumble along.

So we were rooting for K.Stew to get comfortable in front of the cameras—and with three Twi flicks plus other projects in between, it's no surprise she's a red carpet pro now...

Mac mini (mid 2010) review

The Mac mini has long been the oddball child of the Mac family: it's the only consumer-level machine from Apple that isn't a fully-integrated experience, and it's the only Mac to have had a sub-$1,000 sticker price in some time. But people love this little weirdo, and they love to do weirdly awesome things with it -- we've seen Mac minis stuffed into everything from old G4 Cube shells to volleyball-playing robots to pianos to... DeLoreans. Yes, DeLoreans. And, of course, people have longed been connecting Mac minis to HDTVs and using 'em as a media players -- it's small, quiet, relatively powerful, and it's a real computer, so it can play virtually any video file you throw at it. And now it's gotten even more attractive as a home theater PC, since Apple's given the newest Mac mini a striking unibody makeover, NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics, and -- a first for any Mac -- an HDMI port, making it a dead-simple addition to your HDTV. On the flip side, the base price of the only stock consumer configuration has gone up to $699, and to be blunt, much cheaper PCs have had HDMI ports forever. So is the mini worth the premium? Is it the ultimate small PC for the living room -- and beyond? Read on to find out.

Just 500 Microsoft Kin phones sold claims source

We’ll admit, we weren’t entirely convinced by Microsoft’s KIN smartphones – their patchy specs and expensive Verizon smartphone tariffs didn’t add up to a particularly compelling range – but Business Insider’s current rumor that the company has sold just 500 devices doesn’t quite ring true. They aren’t saying where that figure came from, though they are asking any Kin owners to step forward and identify themselves.

It’s also unclear whether the rumor applies to both the Kin One and Kin Two devices, or just one particular model. Either way, we’ve a feeling Microsoft may have sold a few more than 500, though we’d also be very interested to hear from any owners out there. Are you, like Chaim Gartenberg, quietly impressed with the handsets, or are you wishing you’d picked something else?

HTC has fix in the works for EVO 4G screen sensitivity; separation problems are minor

We've just been tipped off on a couple feel-good items for EVO 4G owners that should end your Friday on a bright note:

* The glass separation issues are real, but said to be super minor and have no effect on the usability of the phone apart from a nearly imperceptible "give" to the touch. That said, HTC has made some assembly changes that should reduce or eliminate the problem going forward, and it'll keep an eye on the situation.
* This is really interesting: the screen sensitivity problems are also real and are apparently far more prevalent in arid climates, but it can be fixed with a software patch alone. That patch will be rolling out to EVOs soon.

See? Told you it was feel-good news. More on this stuff as we get it.

Jay Chou secretly loaned 40 mil to Cape No.7 director

Jay Chou’s Superman might not be able to fly, but he sure saved the day for Cape No. 7 director Wei Te-Sheng. The star apparently loaned 40 million (NTD) to the director for his new movie Seediq Bale. Filming of the epic began last November and is not expected to complete until July. The film’s financial troubles has been widely reported as its budget has already ballooned to a whopping 600 million. Most recently, the production is said to be owing 2.6 million in car rentals.

Jay Chou reportedly made 550 million last year. His company JVR Music confirmed the rumor was indeed true, “Jay supports good movies, good directors. They needed money at the time, so Jay helped out, but we can’t disclose the actual amount.”

Seediq Bale producer Huang Chih-Ming responded, “Director Wei worked as the assistant director on the pre-production of Monga. We later collaborated on Secret. He thinks it’s very cool of director Wei to make Seediq Bale. He loaned us some money after knowing about our financial difficulties. It was paid back to him in April. We had a written acknowledgment. He only charged us $1 for interest, so we are very grateful for his help.”

Daniel Radcliffe greets thousands of excitable fans on opening day of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Thousands of people queued for hours today to get into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando on its opening day.

Daniel Radcliffe and other stars from the movie greeted excitable fans at the minipark as they finally got to enter the magical theme park.

Aerial photos of Universal Orlando showed thousands upon thousands of people waiting hours to get through the gates.

The park was admitting guests to the 20-acre (8-hectare) Wizarding World area in waves, so it did not appear overcrowded from the inside.

But the queue to enter the Wizarding World backed up through Universal's Islands of Adventure park, where the Harry Potter area is located, all the way to the Universal entrance at City Walk, according to Robert Niles, editor of ThemeParkInsider.com.

Will Rob & Kristen Costar in a Non-Twilight Movie?

The Internet is buzzing that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have agreed to do another movie together post-Breaking Dawn.

Reportedly, Rob and Kristen are set to star in an adaptation of Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus, which Summit Entertainment has acquired the rights to.

Here's the scoop from Stewart and a source over at the studio:

"Uh, not that I know of," Kristen responded when we asked her after the Eclipse press conferences last weekend if she was signed onto the film.

A source over at Summit adds, "We do have the rights to the film, but we haven't even started the casting process. In fact, I don't think there is even a script yet."

Microsoft to boost Bing's music, TV, movies, game search

Microsoft will unveil new features next week to enhance the Bing search engine's capabilities to search for entertainment-related content, specifically in areas such as music, television, movies and online games.

The announcement will be made on Tuesday by Yusuf Mehdi, senior vice president of Microsoft's Online Audience Business, at a press conference in West Hollywood, California, according to an invitation Microsoft sent to journalists.

The goal is to significantly beef up Bing's handling of entertainment-related queries, an area that draws much interest from users, along with other "verticals" such as health, travel and shopping that Microsoft will also strengthen in the near future, according to people familiar with the plans.

For example, TV search results will get enhanced with programming listings and with the ability to stream episodes from the search engine user interface, these people said.

Why It's Sad Sony Lost the Videogame Hardware Race

E3's biggest loser? It's Sony. They've been lagging behind for years overall, but to lose at hardware, their strongest suit? What a pity.

Look at all three companies that define the industry. Microsoft is a software company, so Xbox has the best software and services, like Xbox Live, Zune and Windows Media Extender. Nintendo is fundamentally a games company, so they make the best games (or at least, the greatest quantity of amazing, if iterative games). Sony is a consumer electronics company, so they excel at hardware: The PlayStation 3 is defined by Blu-ray and its Cell processor; the PSP blew out the DS in terms of specs, not software. Raw hardware power.

So how the hell has Sony lost the hardware race two years running at E3? Squandering their most valuable brand, PlayStation, is a spectacular failure that doesn't bode well for a glorious return to the Sony of old.

In the Home

True to Sony form, PlayStation Move out-rawrs the Nintendo Wii's motion controls on paper, using the PlayStation Eye camera to track the Move controllers more accurately, with real depth-mapping. (And the technical demos of the hardware are just straight up neat.) But like Mark says, it's just Wii HD. It's derivative, not powerful. You wave sticks around. (It's not even superior to the Wii, at least in some game demos: "The combat? Laggy. And I never felt like my punches were registered the way I threw them onscreen.")

The home console hardware that garnered the most attention—judging by people's reactions, the lines at E3, and our own experiences—is Microsoft's completely controller-less Kinect, which seemingly promises something completely new. You are the controller with Kinect. That's killer hardware.

Danson Tang talks about comeback, friendship with f(x)’s member Amber

It’s been over 18 months since Taiwanese pop star Danson Tang was last heard from prior to his comeback, yet after over 500 days of preparation, Danson more than delivered to his adoring fans with the release of his comeback single “I’m Back” featuring popular Korean pop band f(x)’s Taiwanese-American member Amber.

Following the release of his second album two years ago, Danson described how he had reached a low point in his career and felt so depressed that he considered quitting the music industry business. Fortunately for his fans, Danson’s close knit group of friends convinced the comeback star to stick with it by releasing the type of music for him to express his feelings. The result is his ambitious “I’m Back” track off his third album “D1 Seconds”.

Glee star Matthew Morrison joins Leona Lewis for a magical duet of Over the Rainbow

With Leona Lewis rumoured to be guest starring on a future episode of TV show Glee, it seems only right that she give fans a taste of what they might expect.

Glee star Matthew Morrison joined the 25-year-old singer at her London O2 Arena gig yesterday night, to perform a duet of Over the Rainbow.

Fans went wild when Morrison, who plays teacher Will Schuester on the show, took to the stage.

And he immediately charmed his audience by telling Lewis: ‘You look very beautiful,' before adding: ' I have to say, London girls in general look beautiful.’

Morrison then proceeded to get out a ukulele and strummed along while the pair sang together on the fairy tale style set.

The smiling pair shared a hug at the end of the number.

But the actor looked somewhat underdressed for the big show in a plain navy v-neck jumper, lumberjack shirt and blue trousers.

Could Kristen Stewart Fill Angelina Jolie's Shoes in a Wanted Sequel?

Even though Kristen Stewart is one busy actress – between promoting Eclipse and filming the two-part Breaking Dawn – fans area already talking about what she'll do next.

For months, speculation has been rampant that Stewart is being considered to take over Angelina Jolie's role in the sequel to 2008's action-filled assassin flick Wanted.

It's just talk for now, but Stewart says she'd consider the role. "Yes. Definitely, as long as it was really good, " she tells MTV News. "Wanted was a great movie … James McAvoy makes that movie different than most other action movies because he's a real guy, and I feel most action movies don't have that. But I wouldn't just want to be in a mindless, blow-up movie. I'm not into it."

Once it was reported that Jolie would not return for the Wanted sequel, rumors began circulating that the script would be rewritten to portray her character, Fox, at a young age, setting the stage for Stewart to take over. Director Timur Bekmambetov and Universal studios have not confirmed these rumors.

DigiTimes: Apple shipping 1.2 million iPads per month

In a post this morning, DigiTimes analyst Kuo Ming-Chi stated that Apple, Inc. is currently shipping close to 1.2 million iPads per month. Ming-Chi also went onto note that, “the monthly shipments may reach 2.5 million units by the end of 2010.” The analyst’s estimates are based on information obtained from iPad supply-chain manufacturer LG. LG shipped somewhere between 800,000 and 900,000 9.7-inch LCD displays to Apple last month; Ming-Chi also estimates that the panels cost Apple roughly $80 – $90 each. It is unclear how accurate the 2.5 million unit projection is, however, assuming there is some shred of truth to it (and assuming all the iPads sold were the low end 16GB Wi-Fi model) $499 x 2.5 million is roughly $1.25 billion in gross sales…and that’s every month.

Millennial Media: Apple OS Drops By 33 Percent In May But iPad Impressions Grow 160 Percent

Mobile ad network Millennial Media, which claims that its network reaches 82 percent of 72 million mobile web users in the U.S., is reporting that iPad ad requests grew 160 percent from April to May with global Apple ad requests dropping 33 percent in May. Apple OS U.S. ad requests dropped by nearly 14 percent month-over-month after an 8 percent decrease in requests in April.

That being said, the Apple OS is still the leading mobile operating system in Millennial’s U.S. network, with a 48 percent share of Smartphone impressions. RIM’s BlackBerry remained the second largest OS on Millennial’s network for the tenth consecutive month with a 3% increase month-over-month and a 19 percent share of impressions. Android’s share rose by 5 percent to a 15 percent share of impressions for the month of May.

Android total ad requests grew by 15 percent in May, which is slower growth than the OS has seen. Last month, Android saw a 77 percent jump in impressions, and a 72 percent jump in May. But the jump in impressions for Android over the past six months is staggering, with requests having grown by 338 percent since January.

Engaged Megan Fox Wears Enormous Black Ring on Red Carpet

Guess Megan Fox hasn't replaced her lost engagement ring yet. She showed up wearing an enormous black ring on her right hand at Thursday's premiere of Jonah Hex in Hollywood. (The new Us Weekly, out now, reports that Fox lost the 2-carat ring on a Hawaiian beach just hours after Brian Austin Green's proposal.

Even without a new diamond to show off, Fox, 24, gushed to UsMagazine.com about her wedding -- even if it's still a long ways off.

"It's going to be years!" she told Us of her walk down the aisle. "I'm going to be 44 when I get married!"

Whenever the big day happens, Green, 36, will be a hands-on groom, Fox said. "He is in on the planning. He wants to be!"

Perez Hilton to Joy Behar: I'm an Idiot, Miley Cyrus is an "Oversexualized Creature"

I used poor judgment and probably should not have posted the photo.

That's all Perez Hilton had to say about this week's Miley Cyrus upskirt picture scandal, in which the blogger Tweeted an image that suggested the 17-year old singer wasn't wearing underwear. Utter that one sentence and the controversy would go away.

But this is Perez Hilton, of course. He craves controversy and the attention it brings. Therefore, during his appearance on The Joy Behar Show last night, he spent almost nine minutes defending his actions, saying of the pic:

"It was showing Miley getting out of the car in an un-ladylike fashion. That was funny and keeping with her shocking behavior of late."

Jay Park is back in Korea!

JaeBum returned to Korea on 18th June 9 months after he left 2PM and Korea. He landed at 5.25pm, coming out from E Gate at 5.50pm. Even though JaeBum was arranged for interview with the media, the interview only lasted for no more than 3 minutes as he was heavily guarded by security officers.

And about 1000 fans welcomed him at him airport. And just like the day he left Korea, JaeBum was seen in white and wearing a beanie. Fans were calling out to him, and he was seen smiling.

JaeBum is back this time for the filming of his upcoming Hollywood movie Hype Nation.

Jay Chou-Jolin Tsai reunion started with a ring

Following the flurry of reports regarding the Jay Chou-Jolin Tsai collaboration, a Taiwanese magazine reported that it was a ring given to Jolin as a token of love that sparked the reunion.

According to a Taiwanese magazine, Jay has been working on the big revival for over six months, but had kept it a closely guarded secret for fear of news getting out and disrupting his 'plans'.

"Since the break-up, it has always been Jay who kept contacting Jolin. Even Jay had asked her why she never takes the initiative," said close associates.

It was also said that the duo kept their interactions strictly to phone-calls and messages, never meeting up in person so as to avoid the paparazzi.

Jay then reportedly won Jolin over with a Cartier Love series white gold ring, worth over S$5,000, and a promise to "marry her in the future".

Mozilla designer touts tricks to give Firefox the illusion of speed

Google's Chrome uses gimmicks to make it seem fast at start-up, says designer

An interface designer interning at Mozilla has suggested that the company mimic gimmicks in Google's Chrome to make users think Firefox starts up faster.

In an entry on his personal blog that was reposted to Mozilla's über-blog, Planet Mozilla, John Wayne Hill, an Indiana University master's student interning this summer at the open-source company, spelled out changes that would give users the feeling that Firefox starts quicker.

"Firefox is fast, no doubt about it. But for many people it feels pretty slow when starting up," said Hill, who is studying human-computer interaction and design. "Chrome, while only marginally faster than Firefox at starting, feels much faster. By analyzing videos of these start-up processes we can start to understand what makes Firefox feel slow."

Along with Alex Faaborg, a Firefox principal designer, Hill put Firefox and Chrome through speed trials that showed Google's browser finished most start-up tasks milliseconds faster than Firefox, in some cases because the former skipped steps. Hill then compared how both browsers handled specific start-up tasks or informed users of start-up progress.

Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams to costar in tearjerker

and hopefully share a kiss in the rain

Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams will costar in The Vow, a film based on the heartbreaking but ultimately uplifting true story of newlyweds Kim and Krickitt Carpenter, Variety reports. Allow me to cut-and-paste the description of the book of the same name the Carpenters co-wrote:

“Life as Kim and Krickitt Carpenter knew it was shattered beyond recognition on November 24, 1993, two months after their marriage, when their Ford Escort was hit from behind by a fast-moving truck. A massive head injury left Krickitt in a coma for weeks. When she finally emerged from the coma, she recognized her parents and everyone else — but she didn’t know Kim. She had no idea who he was. The ‘Krickitt’ Kim had married essentially died in the accident. The Vow is the true tale of the reconstruction of two lives and a marriage after an event so shattering that most others would have parted ways long ago. Though it was not easy, and it tested every fiber of who they were, Kim and Krickitt fell in love all over again.”

New Xbox 360 gets a proper teardown analysis: power and noise reductions confirmed

Anyone can take a hammer and rib-spreader to a new piece of hardware. But it takes someone like Anand Shimpi, the man behind Anandtech who has personally suffered through four out-of-warranty Xbox 360 failures, to bring sage analysis to a teardown of the new Xbox 360. His reluctant sixth Xbox 360 is the new slimster (codename Valhalla) which, for the first time, combines the CPU, GPU, and eDRAM onto a single chip -- previous Xbox 360 motherboards featured two discrete packages that split the CPU from the ATI designed Xenos GPU and eDRAM. The design allows for a single heatsink to be cooled by a single, larger fan making the new Xbox "noticeably quieter," measured at 45dB when idle or 51dB with the 1.5Gbps SATA Hitachi HTS545025B9SA00 with 8MB buffer spinning at 5400RPM -- that's down from 50dB and 54dB, respectively, as measured on late 2008 through 2010 Jasper-class 360s. Regarding power consumption, Anand measured a 50% reduction from the original 2005 Xbox 360 (25% less than Jasper-class rigs at idle, or 20% to 17% less under load) and pulled just 0.6W when "totally off" compared to the 2W of vampire power pulled by older 360s. Anand speculates that Microsoft might finally be using cheaper 40nm components. However, we shouldn't expect to see a price cut anytime soon as it will take Microsoft awhile to ramp up the material and manfucaturing cost savings. Regardless, with Kinect and several new game titles on the horizon, Anand concludes that there's still pleny of life left in the old Xbox 360 platform for those looking to make the jump.
