"Down With Love" Fights Against Piracy with Behind-the-Scenes NG Footage

Due to leakage of the serial, some viewers have already watched the pirated online edition of CTV and GTV's idol drama serial - [Down With Love], which stars Jerry Yan and Ella. In an attempt to revive the viewership ratings, the TV stations are going to further "value-add" to the serial. For the coming telecast of this weekend's episode, behind-the-scenes NG footage of the cast will be screened just before the commercial break. Some of the footage includes Jerry Yan making "farting" sounds, adding impromptu lines to his script, and other hilarious moments of NG. The TV stations hope to re-attract viewers and remind them of the "good show coming up".

In the NG footage, Jerry Yan forsake his idol "burden" to join Ella in making "farting" sounds using their mouths and both artistes' expressions looked extremely hilarious. There was also once when he noted a plane flying overhead while filming and he added a line, "What is the matter?! How can a plane fly past at this moment?" There were also moments whereby Jerry would purposely "freeze" in the middle of his act, meanwhile Ella let slip on a "rated" joke. All these unrevealed NG footages will be shared with viewers in hope that they can understand the merits of staying tuned to watch non-pirated edition of [DWL]. On the other hand, Chen Xiao Xuan, who acted as Xiao Xiao Bin's mother in [DWL], shared that she has to hand it to Xiao Xiao Bin who is very obedient to his father during the filming period. "If it was my own son doing this, he would never accomplish filming."

That's a devilish look to pull off, Lady GaGa

After an exhausting week at work, most people prefer to slip into clothes that are a little more comfortable.

But then Lady Gaga has never been one to follow convention.

The American pop star arrived for dinner on a night off from her tour wearing an even more outlandish outfit than her usual stage attire.

Unfortunately, her devilish, horned headpiece had the effect of making her look as though she was wearing antlers.

But fashion experts suggested it was a tribute to late designer Alexander McQueen.

One of his last collections was called Horn of Plenty.

Caught! Rob & Kristen Continue Pub Crawl of Love!

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were spotted fitting in one last round of pub hopping before R.Pattz is due back to the States to promote Remember Me this weekend. Robsten, who seem more far lovey-cozy than usual, of late, hit up the Macbeth in London Thursday night and were inseparable per usual.

Now, are you ready for this? We have it confirmed by multiple sources at the venue that Rob and Kris were:

"100 percent there together," says a sober eyewitness.

Now, take that to mean what you will (as we so know you will)!

A lucky fan at Macbeth last night that twittered she did in fact see Rob and Kristen at the pub together, tho she only took a pic with R.Pattz. Don't you love technology nowadays?

British politician Nicolas Clark (who has had to protect his tweets since most likely getting hounded by Twi-hards) also twittered Tuesday night he saw Rob and Kristen at the Marquis of Granby share "just a couple of kisses on the lips," later adding "R+K were acting like a couple."

Microsoft to Google: Who cares who squealed to the EU? Deal with it.

In a blog post today, Microsoft took exception about being on the receiving end of some finger-pointing that surrounds the European Union’s new investigation into Google’s power over the advertising industry.

Earlier this week, Google posted a blog entry that essentially named Microsoft as the driving force behind the EU investigation. But then Microsoft fired back with its own entry that 1) basically says they are not the driving force and 2) that even if they were, so what? Competitors are usually the ones who complain about what they consider to be unfair competitive actions.

Dave Heiner - the author of the blog post - ought to know. He’s been Chief Competition Officer at Microsoft since 1994 and has seen his share of regulatory scrutiny.

Politics aside, the back-and-forth schoolyard - er, blogosphere - bickering over who told and who didn’t really shouldn’t matter. It won’t change the fact that regulators found enough of a there there to launch an investigation. And rest assured that the investigation won’t come to a close overnight.

Dell confirm Mini 5 AT&T connection, Android Market access & more

Hungry for more on the Dell Mini 5 MID? As well as confirming that the Android slate is the first of several such tablets from the company, Dell head tablet honcho Neeraj Choubey has also been spilling the beans on carrier partnerships, Android Market compatibility and the potential for next-gen resistive screens being used instead of capacitive on future models.

In an interview with LAPTOP, the talkative Choubey confirms that the Mini 5 is Android Market compliant and should run any app in there which conforms to Google’s developer guidelines. He also confirms that Dell are in talks with AT&T to offer the Mini 5 on their network, presumably subsidized.

But Clifford told Us Cowell and Hussainy, 36, were "an item" and were "happy."

Angelina Jolie out of 'Wanted 2': Follow-up project not a lock

Sources confirm New York Magazine’s report that Angelina Jolie will not reprise her role as the highly trained assassin Fox in Wanted 2. The script for the sequel was already complete and the studio had hoped to get the film into production this year. It’s not clear now if they will proceed. While New York said Jolie has opted instead to do Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, which was said to have moved to Warner Bros. after it lived at Universal for years, Jolie’s reps say the actress has passed on doing Gravity at Warner Bros. It’s not yet clear as to why and sources indicate the Gravity portion of the story was quite premature. Warner Bros. is still unable to confirm whether or not Gravity is even set up with the studio. Stay tuned.

‘Precious’ wins big at NAACP Image Awards

It was a winning night for “Precious” at the 41st NAACP Image Awards.

The heart-wrenching tale of an illiterate and abused teen who finds hope in a Harlem classroom was named outstanding motion picture and outstanding independent film at Friday’s ceremony. Stars Mo’Nique and Gabourey Sidibe, screenwriter Geoffrey Fletcher and director Lee Daniels also won.

Daniels excitedly accepted the best-picture prize, surrounded by his cast and fellow producers.

“No one in Hollywood told me they wanted to see a movie about a 350-pound black woman with HIV,” he said.

Sidibe objected, and Daniels corrected himself: “She’s not 350 pounds. This was before you were hired.”

The director twice told the orchestra to stop playing him off, but Daniels was ultimately cut off as gospel duo Mary Mary took the stage and the show came to a close.

Presented by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Image Awards honor diversity in the arts and outstanding achievements in film, television, music and literature.

Sidibe cried as she accepted the award for outstanding actress in a motion picture for her starring turn as Precious, the overweight, twice-pregnant teen who discovers her self-worth through reading and writing.

Windows Mobile 6.5 to become Windows Phone Starter Edition

Windows Phone 7 Series might have been the big news out of Mobile World Congress this year, but it looks like Windows Mobile 6.5 will live on as the basis of Windows Phone Starter Edition. We'd already heard some whispers to that effect, but now it's been confirmed by ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley, who got some answers about the stripped-down mobile OS directly from Redmond. It's obviously designed to be a cheaper alternative for developing and emerging markets, much like Windows 7 Starter on the desktop, and it'll come in versions with and without Office Mobile preloaded when it ships on devices later this year. (Office 2010 will be included when it's officially released.) Here's the odd thing, though: when asked which features of 6.5 have been stripped to create Starter, MS replied with a list of radio support that conspicuously omits HSDPA 3G, but includes EV-DO. Simple typo, or an attempt to force international adoption of WinPho 7 in developed countries with 3G networks? We'll do some digging and find out.

P.S.- Just to be clear here, it appears that the family will be Windows Phone 7 Series, and then potentially two WinMo 6.5 products: Windows Phone Classic and Windows Phone Starter Edition. Only Starter has actually been confirmed at this time, though, and we still don't know exactly how Microsoft is going to organize all of this and sell it. We'll keep you updated.

The Stalling Of An Anti-Bush Video Game

Evocative and provocative, a game born of the anxiety about George W. Bush's polices abroad would have included a Chinese invasion of the U.S. and the emotional journey of a soldier struggling over whether to flee military service.

But the game was killed, not by politics but the popularity of the other game that developer David Jaffe was working on.

During our weekly Kotaku Talk Radio podcast, special guest Jaffe spoke at length about his canceled PSP game, Heartland. Read about how the game came to life, how it died, and the game developer that rose from its ashes.

Following the release of God of War for the PlayStation 2, David Jaffe was eager to create another story-based game. It was this desire that gave birth to Heartland, a first-person shooter for the PlayStation Portable that he hoped would make players weep openly.

"Heartland was a very liberal response to the Bush administration and the Iraq War. What I really wanted to do was to create a first-person shooter on the PSP that really tried to evoke emotions beyond the traditional emotions you get in a first-person shooter – you know, adrenalin and competition. I wanted to also evoke fear and sadness.

JooJoo ship date pushed to March 25 due to manufacturing issues

Well, that didn't take too long. Just a day after we pondered the shipping status of Fusion Garage's JooJoo tablet, the company's come clean and told us shipping will delayed to March 25 because of a manufacturing issue with the tablet's 12.1-inch capacitive screen. Yep, it looks like it's going to be at least 27 more days until you've got a JooJoo of your very own -- which means, of course, that Fusion Garage will now be trying to launch this thing during the same week Apple's scheduled to launch the iPad. Ouch. To its credit, Fusion Garage says it's not happy with the delay and has promised a free accessory to pre-order customers to make it better -- we're told it's likely to be the $30 stand. We'll see if that's enough to hold back the effects of Cupertino's coming media blitz, but either way we're quite excited about making a tablet sandwich at the end of March.

Verizon-bound CDMA Google Nexus One apparently passes the FCC

The FCC has just approved a CDMA HTC-made smartphone with the model name PB99300.

Since the GSM/HSPA Google Nexus One is the PB99100, the PB99300 is likely the CDMA version of the Nexus One, which should be launched via Verizon soon (Google has officially announced that Verizon would support the Nexus One).

Unfortunately, we still don’t know when exactly a Verizon-ready Nexus One will be available, but it looks like that day is near.

Topless Lady Gaga Q Magazine Cover Banned In US

Lady Gaga’s topless cover feature on the March issue of Q Magazine has been banned by several major retailers in the US.

The “Poker Face” hitmaker made headlines when she walked out on a photoshoot with the magazine earlier this month when bosses at the publication refused to let her strike a controversial pose in a bid to poke fun at rumors that she is a hermaphrodite. Q editors eventually rearranged the shoot, but the final pictures show Gaga posing topless in just a pair of leather trousers.

Lindsay Lohan's bloated face shows the ill-effects of her exhausting jet-set lifestyle

It appears Lindsay Lohan's transatlantic party lifestyle may be catching up with the troubled star.

As she flew to Europe today the former child star's face looked bloated and swollen, following three days of hard partying.

It may be that the 23-year-old is simply in need of a good night's rest.

Lindsay only returned to the States this week, following a week of late nights while in London.

She then flew to Atlantic City, before returning to Los Angeles where she hit the clubs with a vengeance.

On Tuesday she spent the night at Bardot Hollywood, where ex-girlfriend Sam Ronson was DJing. But with Lindsay not even arriving until after 1am it was a very late night.

An observer told people.com: 'She wouldn't leave, and at the end of the night, you could tell she was waiting for Sam.'

Motorola open to Windows Phone 7 and MOTOBLUR on other devices

Motorola has been struggling more than some phone makers with the poor economy. The fact that before Android Motorola hadn’t had a popular device since the RAZR didn’t help things. When Android became popular Motorola pretty much abandoned WinMo and clung to Android the way a drowning man clings to a bit of driftwood.

IntoMobile reports that Motorola co-CEO Sanjay Jha has said that Motorola is considering offering Windows Phone 7 devices. There are no hard details, but you can bet Motorola is keen to try any mobile OS that will help it increase market share.

Apple predicted to introduce lower cost iPhone models in June

Apple's next update to the blockbuster iPhone handset is expected by one prominent analyst to have a lower total cost of ownership, and to also include new gesture-based functionality.

Katy Huberty with Morgan Stanley maintains that the biggest barrier to greater iPhone adoption is the cost of the hardware, followed by the service plan. The investment in the device has been its biggest issue in both developed markets like the U.S. and emerging ones like China.

But Huberty expects Apple to address that in June, by introducing a new model that will be economically friendly to even more consumers.

"We expect Apple to launch new iPhones in June that offer both a lower total cost of ownership and new functionality, potentially including gesture-based technology," she wrote in a new note to investors Friday.

Symbian^4 UI video previews are not as fascinating as you’d think

More than a month after we saw the first Symbian^4 UI concept proposal images, here we have Symbian^4 (well, an early version of it, anyway) demoed on video.

If you expect something revolutionary, you’ll be disappointed.

Of course, you can see that Symbian^4 lets you freely place widgets on the customizable homescreen, but, really, the only noticeable thing is that Dali-like clock. But let’s wait and see what Symbian^3 will bring first, and then judge Symbian^4.

Gillian Chung Returns to Big Screen

Hong Kong singer-actress Gillian Chung is brushing off her sex scandal troubles and will reappear on the silver screen in director Jeffrey Lau's new production, "Once Upon a Chinese Classic."

Led by Hong Kong actor Ronald Cheng and mainland actress Sun Li, the slapstick comedy rallied a cast of 58 Chinese stars, like Huang Bo, Sandra Ng and Eric Tsang.

Gillian Chung plays the role of Sun Shangxiang, an ancient princess and the sister of Sun Quan (182-252), the Emperor of East Wu during the Three Kingdoms period.

Rainie Yang voted sexiest Taiwanese star by US men's magazine

Rainie Yang's sweetie pie image now has international fans. The 26-year-old Taiwanese singer was voted as the sexiest Taiwanese female in US men's magazine Complex Magazine, thanks to her fresh and sweet appeal.

The girl-next-door apparently is the hot favourite among American men. Rainie beat even the Taiwan's most famous legs, Lin Chi-ling. The supermodel-cum-actress with the baby doll voice was 5th place, lower than another cutie pie actress Ariel Lin, who's ranked 4th.

The top 10 list of female stars are Rainie Yang, Megan Lai, Joe Chen, Ariel Lin, Lin Chi-ling, Barbie Hsu, Angela Chang, Bianca Bai, Coco Chiang, and finally, Cyndi Wang.

Rainie was last seen in the Taiwanese romantic-comedy serial, Hi My Sweetheart, starring opposite Show Luo and Lee Wei. She will also be featured in an upcoming new horror flick, The Child's Eye in 3D, which is directed by the renowned Pang brothers.

American Idol Makes First Four Cuts

Sheryl Crow once crooned that "the first cut is the deepest."

For American Idol last night, the first four cuts were the most erroneous. Let's analyze each below:

Joe Munoz over Tim Urban?!? The latter might be cute, but did you see the look of shock on his face after Ryan told Tim he was safe? Did viewers really do Urban a favor by keeping him around and ensuring his weak vocal skills will be torn apart again and again until America comes to its senses?

Tyler Grady over Jermaine Sellers?!? We weren't fans of Grady's 1970s-inspired gimmick, either. But he made a great point (which Simon acknowledged, if you read his lips) about the judges selecting him for the semifinals... but then jumping all over him for the same schtick that got him there.

It would have been nice to have seen if Tyler had more to offer going forward, especially compared to the over-emotional nonsense that Sellers through our way this week.

Sir Anthony Hopkins Practically Calls Paris Hilton Stupid

Anthony Hopkins may have been knighted, but apparently no one ever taught him that name-calling isn't nice.

Not that we totally blame him.

The Oscar winner doesn't exactly call Paris Hilton "stupid," but that's clearly what he was thinking.

"You look at the red carpet, Paris Hilton, you know, these people and you think, 'Is there anything going on up there?' " he tells Starpulse.

He doesn't think much more highly of models.

Google explains search rankings after complaints in Europe

Google has offered a general explanation of how it ranks its search results, one day after the European Commission said it was looking into antitrust complaints against the company.

In a blog post Thursday, Google Fellow Amit Singhal also referred to a recent op-ed piece suggesting that regulators should control how search engines rank results. He stressed that developing search rankings is very difficult, implying perhaps that regulating search would be hard for any government to do well.

Laying out the challenge, Singhal said Google processes hundreds of millions of queries a day, with at least 20% of them totally new. To handle the volume and variety of queries, the company uses a collection of algorithms to sift through data.

RIM BlackBerry slider coming soon?

It looks like RIM is getting ready to launch a BlackBerry smartphone with a sliding QWERTY keyboard in the vein of the Palm Pre.

There aren’t any official details about this at the moment, but BGR says the new BlackBerry slider will feature Wi-Fi 802.11n, and a 360 x 480 pixels display, most probably touch-sensitive. It will run BlackBery 6.0 OS – which seems to be that new touch and Web-friendly OS that we’ve heard about not long ago.

Reportedly, the unannounced RIM smartphone is a GSM/HSDPA device, so AT&T or T-Mobile could launch it in the US.

Joe Ma wins over co-star Anita Yuen

For years he's been the lightning rod of media criticism due to the numerous links with his female co-stars. But these days, Joe Ma's hitherto tainted image has been scrubbed clean, and he's even gotten the seal of approval from the allegedly difficult Anita Yuen, his co-star in the drama Born Rich.

"I read that she's a very difficult person, but in fact she's very meticulous and cheerful. Our chemistry is very good and we seldom had NGs (no-good takes). Because of that we often wrapped up early!" chirped the Hong Kong actor.

Joe was in Singapore on Tuesday to promote the new serial, which features an ensemble cast including Gallen Lo, Ray Lui, Kenix Kwok and Nancy Sit. In it, he plays an all-too-perfect good guy, a bank executive whose romantic interest is Anita.

Previous reports showed that Joe's good feelings are two-way. Anita commented that despite initial apprehensions, she found her co-star to be easygoing and counts him as a personal friend. The two actors, who each have a son, even discussed parenthood.
