In light of Verizon's recent decision (or was that Google's decision?) to say goodnight to the Nexus One in favor of the Droid Incredible, we thought it might be wise to reach out to Sprint and get a comment on its own version -- the EVO 4G is just around the corner, of course, and it's lying in wait to cast a long, long shadow over any other Android device in Sprint's lineup. Sure enough, the carrier says that it's now taking a pass on Google's first "superphone," seeing how the EVO 4G is basically better in every respect: WiMAX support, larger screen, better camera, and so on. Of course, this might peeve a few folks who'd prefer stock Android over HTC's Sense UI -- if for no other reason than the fact that Sense-powered devices tend to have wildly longer firmware upgrade lag times than stock ones do -- but otherwise, the move seems to be a perfectly logical one. Oh, and as for that EVO? No update on a launch window, but Sprint says that it's still targeting Summer, thank goodness.

Our first glimpse of Firefox 4 was limited to a few tasteful mockups; this time, Mozilla's main man Mike Beltzner has revealed the company's plans for its next generation web browser in its entirety. While exact features and dates are sketchy, his presentation reveals Mozilla would like to hold the Firefox 4 beta in June, before unleashing a CSS3, partially HTML5 compliant web browser with multitouch support, background updates, geolocation, Firefox Sync (aka Mozilla Weave) and a greatly streamlined UI this holiday season. The presentation has "PLANS MIGHT CHANGE" written all over it in large red letters, so trust us when we say none of this is for sure, but we like the direction Firefox is going and we'll be happy to see more. Video presentation at our source link, full slideshow after the break.

Since iPad’s launch, eBay has sold more than 5,300 units across the world, 65% abroad and 35% at home, according to data from eBay that spans from mid-March to mid-April. The UK dominated international sales, with 550 units sold, or roughly 15% of foreign sales. But buyers from the United Arab Emirates were willing to shell out the most cash, with the average buyer paying a hefty premium of $537 (!) for the 64GB version (more than enough to buy a bare bones 16GB Wi-Fi model).

Aaannnddd it’s official. AT&T has just announced through its Facebook page that it will be carrying the Palm Pre Plus starting May 16th. Want in? That’ll be $149.99 on a 2-year contract, please. Too much money? Okay. What if we told you AT&T will throw in a free Touchstone charger? No? Didn’t think so. Next!

Macworld.com.au is reporting that a refresh of Apple’s Macbook Air is scheduled for tomorrow. Having successfully tipped the last Macbook Pro refresh a week early, Macworld’s source has a proven track record when it comes to Apple laptop refreshes. The source claims the new Air will have the Apple part number MC516LL/A K87 BETTER BTR-USA, and is already visible in Apple’s inventory system. The source goes on to say Apple may also announce a new 27-inch LED cinema display to compliment the 24-inch model already available. We would like to see a MacBook Air packing, at minimum, a Core i3 and 4GB of RAM, oh…and a 27-inch display that actually works would be nice.

Rumors of Miriam Yeung had a miscarriage was circulating. It's known Miriam said in her Weibo/Sina Mini blog on Thursday (May 6): "I'm really feeling pain, very sad, I cry all the time, when it's the saddest time, I don't cry. But when I closed my eyes and sleep, my tears fell automatically, my heart is in pain that I can't breathe..." Some reports guessed Miriam was crying for having a miscarriage.
But Miriam immediately denied having a miscarriage on Sina Mini Blog. She said: "Everyone please don't worry. No need to call and ask. Never got pregnant, where does miscarriage come from? Can't believe a Weibo status became an excuse for being black-hearted and scared my family. I suggest them to reflect themselves completely, and to fast, in order to make up what they wrote!"

With international pre-orders now being taken, more data plan details have started emerging for Apple's iPad. We now know that Rogers will be charging Canadians pretty similarly to how AT&T treats American 3G users, albeit with the inclusion of a 5GB monthly data cap on the pricier tariff. O2 has also outed its plans, though it's not much better news in the UK where it's matching Orange's pricing with a 3GB monthly allowance for £15 per month ($22), while Vodafone has completely lost its marbles with a 250MB offers a 1GB option costing £10 a month and 5GB costing £25 per month. Apple engages in a bit of false advertising in Germany, claiming unlimited data plans with O2 (€25) and Vodafone (€29.95), but there are clear limits set out on the carriers' sites of 5GB and 3GB per month, respectively.
Finally, Japan gets the stiffest deal of all with iPads there officially confirmed to be SIM-locked to Softbank Mobile's network, something that has already earned plenty of ire from the local populace. The carrier does offer a variety of monthly payment plans for obtaining your tablet, though its data tariffs are nothing special: ¥2,910 ($32) for a month's unlimited use if you sign up to what seems like a longer-term plan, or ¥4,410 ($48) for a 1GB allowance if you go pre-paid. There's a third option for spendthrifts, costing ¥1,510 ($16) for 100MB pre-paid, but that's not even enough for you to watch a full Engadget Show, so we'd probably advise against it. You can find price breakdowns for each country after the break.
Update : Rogers has killed that lovely third option shown in the image above. Hope you weren't excited about it.

Sony VAIO P

Well, we did have some strong evidence to suggest that Sony was planning a design update to its VAIO P Series, but there happens to be a lot more than fresh aesthetics going on with the new 8-inch lappie. Sure, it gets a new matte lid that's available in five different shades, but Sony has also updated the 1.3-pound P Series with an optical touchpad and accelerometer. The former is built into the LCD bezel and, as the picture above shows, is all about navigating the desktop by just holding the screen – the pad is on the right bezel while the right / left mouse buttons are on the left. The accelerometer is probably the most interesting addition – you can flip the device vertically to read documents, but also tilt it to the left or right to move forward or backward while surfing the web. Pretty cool stuff, and there's even more: it's been given a faster Intel Atom Z560 processor option, though the entry-level unit has a slightly-slower Z530 CPU. Still waiting for US pricing to see if Sony can tempt us with its notoriously expensive VAIO P when it begins shipping in June. We'll have a piping hot review of the new VAIO P coming up later this morning. So, will you hit the break for the official PR, or just wait for the review? Decisions, decisions.
The U.S. has finally released its PR. The VAIO P will start at $799 stateside, though that includes the 1.6GHz Atom Z530 processor, and not the newer Z560 upgrade. That's an $100 price drop, but still too much if you ask us.

Fan Bing Bing

Mainland star Fan Bing Bing was earlier voted as the winner for "China's Top 50 Beautiful People", showing her popularity in China. Due to her popularity, a contestant on "Xing Guang Da Hui" named Kong Ming has become an object of discussion due to his feminine features and is nicknamed "Male version Fang Bing Bing." However, during the 2nd round of competition on May 8th, he was surprisingly voted off; to make matters worse for this "male Fan Bing Bing", word began to spread on the internet that "his Bing Bing face was attained through plastic surgery." And, the photos that they supply to support their stance are quite shocking.
"Male Fang Bing Bing" Kong Ming stressed that he hated being the "country edition" after he became famous, and hoped that he could return to his original self during competition. However, after the Bing Bing-like makeup came off, he returned to being a normal man. In the first round on May 1st, Kong Ming was given the "X" by four out of five judges, and on the second round on May 8th, he was criticized by Kay Huang, "Your breath isn't stable enough, and you are not on beat," which led to his ultimate demise.
