Shia LaBeouf GQ Magazine April 2010

Wall Street 2’s Shia LaBeouf looks every bit the stockbroker as he suits up in a Club Monaco three-piece on the cover of the April issue of GQ.

Shia opens up about his “wild nights” with some of Wall Street’s bad boys as he researched his role in Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, his fake hand, and his romance with co-star and Oscar nominated actress Carey Mulligan.

Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds: Together Again?

Who wants to see Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds reunite on the big screen?

We do.

And from what Reynolds tells us, so do they...

"We're talking about something, so hopefully it'll pan out," Reynolds told us about a possible reunion.

When we asked if they're gearing up to be the next Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn, a modest Mr. Reynolds said, "I would never dare make that comparison, but I'm happy you did.

"But yeah, if we can find that right thing," he continued, "we're going to do it immediately."

Perhaps Bullock's pucker-up pal Meryl Streep can join them. "I need to do the lesbian romantic comedy with Meryl," Bullock recently joked with us. "I think that may have to be my next movie."

Britney Spears Back to the Circus of Single Life

Britney Spears is once again a solo artist.

The 28-year-old pop princess and her talent-agent boyfriend Jason Trawick called it quits at the end of February after about a year of dating, a source exclusively tells E! News.

"They were fighting a lot and have not been getting along," the source says.

William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, where Trawick plies his trade, confirmed Tuesday that the 38-year-old agent is still representing Spears. A rep for the blond-again Circus star has not yet responded to a request for comment.

Meanwhile, this isn't the first time the business-and-pleasure-mixing duo have required some time apart.

Spears and Trawick cooled off over the holidays in December, but rekindled the flame in time to attend the Grammys together on Jan. 31, where Spears was nominated for Best Dance Recording for "Womanizer."

Hey Microsoft, Don't F*ck Up Windows Phone 7

Dear Microsoft, you did a good job at out-Appling Apple with the Windows Phone 7. At least on paper. But instead of trying to beat them completely, it seems that you want to screw it all with two stupid decisions.

The first one: Eliminate application multitasking. After making fun of Apple's iPhone for not supporting multitasking, you are exactly following Apple's task model... just when it seems that they are bringing multitasking with iPhone OS 4.0.

How Google Needs to Sell the Nexus Two

It's official: the Nexus One is a sales flop. But it's also the best Android phone out there. So what gives? Turns out, a lot of things. Here's how Google can make things right with the Nexus Two launch:

Marketing: However recognizable Google is as a brand, to enter the cutthroat smartphone space without a full-on ad blitz was a suicide mission. There were was advertising on the home page—a rarity, but not a buzz generator—but otherwise the majority of consumers didn't know what a Nexus One was, or if they did, why it was better or different. Next time out, be willing to spend some money to make some sales.

Things to wear, things to drink, things to wash, things to use, Jolin Tsai is like a commercial board, she is spokesperson for endless products, now even her old flame Jay Chou is rumoured to be entering the battle for her.

New Nexus One gets AT&T and Rogers 3G/UMTS

In what we’re guessing is a mildly-tactical move to counter claims of poor sales performance to-date, Google have added a second GSM Nexus One to their line up with support for AT&T and Rogers Wireless 3G/UMTS. The new handset supports the 850/1900/2100 MHz bands, rather than the T-Mobile-friendly 900/AWS/2100MHz bands of the original, and is priced at the same $529.

The move will open up the market to more potential users, though so far there’s no sign of a subsidy option. If $529 upfront is too rich for your wallet then the only option remains T-Mobile USA; it’s unknown whether AT&T or Rogers Wireless will be throwing their respective hats into the subsidy ring at some point.

Windows Phone 7 Series won't have copy and paste; Will have themes

Ready for another long, drawn-out copy and paste controversy to overtake your every waking moment for a year or two? Good: Microsoft just mentioned in a Q&A session here at MIX10 in no uncertain terms that clipboard operations won't be supported on Windows Phone 7 Series... so that's that. Kind of ironic considering that the WinMo of old has been enjoying the functionality since time immemorial, isn't it? Of course, anything is possible going forward -- they've said on several occasions in different talks and sessions this week that they're already looking at a number of enhancements that were scoped out of the initial release of the platform -- but for the phones you buy this holiday season, don't expect to be copying anything between apps.

So, this is what it looks like when Heidi Montag is “acting.”

Hubby Spencer joined The Hills starlet and her recently-inflated bosom on the set of Montag’s first movie on Monday. The blonde has been cast in a cameo role in the romantic comedy Just Go With It, which stars Jennifer Aniston, Adam Sandler, Brooklyn Decker, and Nicole Kidman.

The feature opens Valentine’s Day 2011….

'Toy Story 3': Pixar does it again

It’s day one of Showest: the theater industry’s annual convention where the movie studios trot out their wares for the theater owners. This year, all is coming up roses with business up 10 percent over last year’s numbers thanks in large part to the success of 3-D. In fact, of the 31 films in 2009 that crossed the $100 million mark, seven of them featured an extra dimension. As such, John Fithian, president of the National Association of Theater Owners, was happy to report that the major financing for the roll-out of 3-D is complete. Plus, this bottleneck that’s expected over the next few months with too much 3-D product and not enough screens should ease up as the theaters roll out an additional 2,500 screens by the end of the year.

Rihanna Helps Katy Perry Plan Her Hen Night!

RIHANNA has offered to help pal Katy Perry plan her hen night.

Perry, 25, is engaged to marry British comedian Russell Brand.

And the Umbrella hitmaker is keen to make Perry’s last night of freedom before her wedding a day to remember.

“Katy’s totally excited and keeps telling Russell her party is going to be every bit as wild as any party he and his boys will throw!” a source told Britain’s More! magazine.

“She and Rihanna have become very, very close. So Rihanna has offered to plan a girls’ getaway and also help out with anything else Katy needs for the wedding.”

Internet Explorer 9 Won't Run on Windows XP

If this morning's news of Internet Explorer 9's support for HTML5 and video acceleration got you excited, and you happen to run Windows XP, prepare to get unexcited: You won't be able to install it on your OS. Sorry!

In Defense of No Multitasking: Microsoft Edition

Windows Phone 7 won't have full multitasking for third party apps, which, given Windows Mobile's multitasking past, took people off guard. Here's how Microsoft's Scott Guthrie answers for this. Warning: The rationalizations might sound a little familiar.

Microsoft's stance is one that's been well-established by another company, and it revolves around broad experience. From a blogger roundtable at Mix today:

How do you trade-off battery life at the same time? As soon as you allow arbitrary apps to do things in the background, it can run out the battery pretty quickly.

In pointing out that background apps can drain your battery, Guthrie is right. Microsoft is taking a conservative approach in taking away the very option—the "hand grenade"—that is multitasking, in service of a smooth, predictable user experience on the whole. And yeah, for current smartphone platforms that do support multitasking, nobody's come up with a truly user-friendly way to manage the apps—Android's implementation is confusing to a lot of people, and Palm's simpler system still causes slowdown, if left unchecked.

JooJoo refund issues creating some bad juju

Given the legally-disputed origins of the JooJoo and the current shipping delays, you'd think Fusion Garage would scrupulously maintain a squeaky-clean image with its customers as it leads up to launch, but it looks like it wasn't quite prepared to handle refunds in a sensible way -- we just confirmed that the company asked a customer for his bank account information in order to deposit a refund directly after running into some troubles with PayPal. Here's the relevant exchange:

Windows Phone 7 Series device from Samsung is just a hacked i8910 HD

We couldn't shake the feeling that the mysterious Samsung-branded Windows Phone 7 Series device being passed around at MIX10 this week was just a warmed-over i8910 HD, and it turns out there's a very good reason for that: Samsung says it is a warmed-over i8910 HD. Even crazier, TechRadar writes that its contact at Samsung basically pegged the stunt entirely on Microsoft, simply saying "they used the i8910 HD to demo Windows 7" and that "this demo was a one-off." The whole thing reeks of the original Zune, which began life as a Frankenstein'd Toshiba Gigabeat -- but we don't think this new trick is going to make it all the way to retail since the i8910 HD clocks in with 640 x 360 resolution (WP7S requires 800 x 480) and a processor that falls well short of the standard-issue 1GHz Snapdragon. At any rate, we're trying to get the straight dope on this from Microsoft now that Samsung's washed its hands of it and we'll update you when we've got more.

T-Mobile goes official with HTC HD2 launch details: March 24th for $200

We've heard it all before, but it's always nice to get a modicum of legitimacy from a primary source. T-Mobile has now officially announced the release details for the HTC HD2 -- you know, that phone whose cool factor has dropped a few Mega Fonzies since we confirmed once and for all it wasn't getting a Windows Phone 7 upgrade. Look for it next Wednesday, March 24th, for just a penny under $200 on a two-year contract (and $450 without). Hey, at least this one's definitely got copy and paste, right?

Marvell Shows Off Android Tablet, Could Ship Later This Year

Tablets are back in style, no thanks to a little thing called the iPad, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Sure, there’s going to be all sorts of failures out there, but at least we can hope that the majority of these slate-style mini-computers will be worth our time. Take, for example, this 10-inch tablet that Marvell was showing off at the Future of Publishing Summit on Tuesday. It’s running the Android mobile Operating System, which isn’t that big of a surprise, and it’s got a few features that make it seem worthwhile.

The device they showed off is just a prototype, and it wasn’t working on a production-based shell, but the word around the block is that it’s (expected to be) really fast. Based on the ARM Armada processor, the tablet would be able to playback 1080p video and not take a significant hit to the battery life. (Which is a good thing.) Sadly, the version of Android running on the test device at the summit was 1.6, and not 2.1 (or even 2.0.1). While it’s still early obviously, this would probably change by the time the finished product hit store shelves.

Black Soshi group picture revealed

After a week of nonstop teasing with individual concept photos and the MV teaser for their upcoming single Run, SNSD has successfully gotten into our skin. As the date for the release of their dark new track draws nearer, the group continues to tease their fans by dropping even more teaser shots.

This time around, the 9 sexy-cheerleaders-gone-bad released a group “Black Soshi” concept photo. If you thought the individual shots were hot, then I can’t wait to hear what ya’ll have to say about this one! I must say, the dark concept has never looked so good!

Sawajiri Erika Tearfully Apologizes

Japanese drama One Litre of Tears lead actress Sawajiri Erika has officially returned to showbiz. At the press conference for her first endorsement deal, she tearfully made her apology to the public.

Sawajiri, who is known for her poor work attitude, surprisingly appeared at the press conference with a smile on her face. Later as she was apologizing, she had tears in her eyes. She addressed her poor work attitude and apologized for bringing trouble to people around her. However, when she was asked by a reporter regarding the six restrictions she placed on the press conference, her attitude changed again and she stated she will not retract any of the rules.

China star Zhang Ziyi takes blame in 'Donationgate'

Chinese film starlet Zhang Ziyi has taken the blame for an earthquake donation scandal in her first comments on a flap that sparked a firestorm of Internet criticism and questions about her honesty.

Fighting back tears, Zhang told the China Daily in an interview published Tuesday that she failed to follow up with her staff after telling them to transfer money she had promised to victims of China's huge May 2008 earthquake.

"I take the main responsibility for the lapse and causing my staff to mix it up," said the 31-year-old Zhang, the star of films such as "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "Memoirs of a Geisha".

"Donationgate," as China's state media dubbed the row, surfaced in January when a popular Chinese website said Zhang had given only 840,000 yuan (US$124,000) of a promised one million yuan. The donations were eventually made.

The 8.0-magnitude quake devastated parts of southwestern China, leaving at least 87,000 people dead or missing.

Lady Gaga [Ft. Beyonce] “Telephone” VIDEO (Clean)

Lady Gaga and Beyonce have unveiled a clean version of their “Telephone” music video, the raunchfest that has become an online sensation. Check out “Telephone” for the 18 & under set:

The music video for “Telephone” is causing an internet buzz worldwide with over 15 million hits. Some criticism has emerged over the use of blatant product placements and for being too explicit – at one point Gaga is shown wearing only police tape to hide her modesty.

Adam Lambert Brings Out Tight Pants and Spikes

'American Idol' runner-up Adam Lambert showed off his assets in a pair of tight pants while promoting his debut album, 'For Your Entertainment,' in Tokyo.

Known for his racy sense of fashion, it wasn't just the trousers that wowed. Spikes accessorized his leather jacket. Glitter in his hair and on his face along with heavy eye makeup completed his outrageous look.

Channing Tatum And Keira Knightley Approached For 'Captain America' Roles

Last month, "Captain America" director Joe Johnston said casting of the title role was only weeks away and even suggested that the process would be completed before March 1st.

However, not only has Captain America not yet been cast, several actors have recently been added to Marvel Studios' shortlist, including — Chris Evans, Garrett Hedlund, Wilson Bethel and Mike Vogel. And before those rumors have even begun to cool down, another name has been added to the mix.

Internet Explorer 9: A Fresh Start, With HTML5

On March 16, Microsoft is making a first developer preview of Internet Explorer (IE) 9 available for download from IETestDrive.com.

Ninth time's the charm, sometimes! At least that's Microsoft's hope with IE9, which they've just announced at Mix, brings new HTML5 support (including HTML5 video!), hardware-accelerated graphics for text and images, and a totally new JavaScript engine. Constantly updating.

Microsoft issued a release just before the actual announcement and demo at the Mix conference, which is just getting under way—here's what we can pick out so far. (More to come, after the demos.)

“Sales failure” Nexus One shifts just 135k in 74 days?

Google’s Nexus One has been something of a hit here at SlashGear – check out Ewdi’s editorial on why he gave up his iPhone 3GS for the Android 2.1 smartphone – but ongoing sales analytics seem to suggest that the handset’s appeal hasn’t been felt by the public at large. According to Flurry – who initially told us that Google had sold 20k Nexus One devices in the first week of sales – only 135,000 have been sold in the 74 days since the Nexus One launched.

Contrast that with the Motorola DROID, another Android handset, of which 1.05m were sold in its first 74 days of availability, or the first-gen iPhone which, in its first 74 days, sold 1m. Flurry’s stats aren’t perfect – they track usage figures through partnerships with mobile app developers rather than counting actual devices in-the-wild – but even with flexibility either way the numbers aren’t looking hot for the Nexus One.

Apple vs. Google gets personal: 'Steve Jobs simply hates Eric Schmidt' (video)

Nothing sells papers (or ads) like turning a little corporate competition into something personal. Case in point, a New York Times piece from the weekend titled "Apple's Spat With Google Is Getting Personal," that opened with this rather ominous, one-sentence paragraph:

"It looked like the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

Cue the orchestra. The lengthy piece chronicling the relationship between the Silicon Valley titans was formed by two dozen interviews with industry watchers, investors, and current and former employees. It covers a timeline spread that began with Google and Apple working in harmony to prevent Microsoft's domination of online services and mobile devices, and ends with Apple's patent lawsuit against HTC that reeks of a proxy battle against Android and Google. According to the NYT then, the heart of the dispute is betrayal, or Jobs' belief that Schmidt (a former Apple board member) "picked his pocket" by developing cellphones that "physically, technologically and spiritually resembled the iPhone." Here's how one especially feisty encounter is described:

Yunho’s photoshoot for This Is It

Last week, TVXQ’s Yunho landed in Los Angeles to prepare for the Michael Jackson posthumous concert This Is It. In the times between his long practice sessions, the artist also managed to squeeze in a promotional photoshoot for the concert.

In these following shots, we can see Yunho dressing as the King of Pop, posing in a variety of stances that were some of Michael Jackson’s most famous poses. After being compared to the likes of Justin Timberlake, maybe after taking a look at these photos, people will start comparing him to Michael himself!

Show Luo and Rainie Yang aren't together: Alien Huang

No, multi-talented Taiwanese artiste Show Luo and adorable singer Rainie Yang were never together and are not attracted to each other, says Alien Huang, host of variety programme 100% Entertainment,

Alien's words do carry some weight. After all, he counts Show as his longtime mentor and Rainie is his ex-girlfriend, no less.

Alien arrived in Singapore last Friday to promote his first solo album, the rock-infused Love Hero, which was released at the end of last year. Known as the slapstick, loveable other half of Show on the daily entertainment variety programme, he was formerly a member of now-defunct boy-group Cosmo.

After his Cosmo album in 2003, the singer-host has finally returned to his first love of making music over hosting and acting. Alien's latest album features a collaboration of heavyweights, including rock legend Wu Bai, hip-hop maestro Chang Chen-yue and Mayday's Ashin and Monster, many of whom are friends he got to know from his hosting career.

How to Win Over Miley Cyrus

Sure it helps to be good looking, but if a guy really wants to win the heart of teen star Miley Cyrus, he needs to embrace the entire Cyrus clan.

"My parents are a little loco," admits Cyrus, 17, at the press conference for her upcoming drama The Last Song. "We have five [kids] and my mom and my dad and my grandma plus like my 10,000 dogs – so if you love me after you see my lifestyle then you're good. You're a keeper."

That's what she considers her costar and real-life boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, 20, who she realized was more than a costar when she found herself playing "stupid" games.

"I think when you're trying to play it cool and you're like, 'Oh, I won't text back for like the next hour,' that's when you know it's more serious," says Cyrus. "You have no idea how many times I was like, 'Oh he called. I'm not going to call back tomorrow.' When it gets confusing and you're over thinking it, you must really like someone."

'Bad Romance' Floors Lady Gaga in New Zealand

Lady Gaga is known for her intense performances and her latest in New Zealand left her struggling to finish.

At the end of her concert in Auckland, Gaga almost passed out on stage during 'Bad Romance.'

Although she continued to sing while sitting down and at times lying on her back, the 23-year-old looked increasingly tired and sluggish as the song went on. Watch the Video:

It's not the first time the rigorous demands of her tour have gotten to her. She had to postpone a concert in Indiana after passing out backstage.

Sony Places Big Bet on a Fallen 'King'

Months after his death, Michael Jackson set a music-industry record, thanks to a deal between his estate and Sony Corp. valued at as much as $250 million, according to people familiar with the terms.

The deal—touted by both Sony and Mr. Jackson's estate as the most lucrative recording contract ever— guarantees the estate at least $200 million. With 10 albums over seven years, the deal will involve a mix of previously unreleased songs and new packages of familiar ones.

The dollar amount is especially striking against the backdrop of the music industry as a whole, in which U.S. album sales have plunged 52% in a decade. Superstar deals worth tens of millions of dollars per album were rare even at the peak of the CD-sales boom in the late 1990s. Yet it also underscores that the biggest acts are becoming even more essential to record labels, as individual fans purchase fewer albums each year.

Since Mr. Jackson's death on June 25, Sony has sold an estimated 31 million of his albums globally. By the first anniversary of his death, his estate expects to have earned $250 million from sales of music, merchandise and tickets to the posthumous concert film "This Is It."

First Look! Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz team up on 'Bad Teacher'

Before the tabloids get themselves all in a twist, this exclusive photo is of Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake dancing together in a movie — namely, Bad Teacher, which started shooting just nine days ago. (The comedy is due in 2011.) “They obviously know each other really well,” director Jake Kasdan (Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story) says of his stars. “They’re good friends, and they’re both incredibly funny people. I couldn’t be more excited about it.”

According to Kasdan, Diaz is playing no less than the worst 7th grade teacher ever. “She’s usually hungover when she gets to school,” he says. “She’s kind of foul mouthed. And she’s completely fixated on trying to afford breast augmentation surgery, and very open about it. She believes it will help her find the right man who will take care of her for the rest of her life.” Enter Timberlake, as a substitute teacher “who happens to be the heir to a watch-making company,” says Kasdan. “She thinks he seems like a good target.” (Jason Segel rounds out the cast as a gym teacher who pines for Diaz’s character.)

Mac sales jump nearly 40%

Apple's retail sales rebound from early 2009's poor performance

Retail sales of Apple's Mac computers jumped 43% last month compared with the same month in 2009, and increased 36% year over year in January, research company NPD Group said today.

The big increases should not be a surprise: Mac sales in the first quarter of 2009 were lackluster. A year ago, Apple acknowledged a drop-off in sales, the first decline in more than six years.

This year's first-quarter sales will be higher than both last year's and 2008's, said Stephen Baker, an analyst at NPD. "They'll be significantly above 2008's because 2009 wasn't down 40%," he said, referring to the upswing over 2009.

30,000 apps available now in Android Market

Although it still has a long way to go until reaching Apple’s App Store’s popularity, Google’s Android Market is quickly growing – and it now offers about 30,000 applications.

Google didn’t officially announce this number, but Mobile Crunch says that a Google representative confirmed it today.

The news comes three months after an AndroLib report said there were 20,000 apps available in Android Market. However, Google said that at that time there were actually only 16,000 apps – which means about 14,000 apps were added in the last three months.

Samsung S3370 – new entry-level touchscreen phone

Samsung will soon launch a new affordable touchscreen phone, namely the Samsung S3370.

The handset looks like it could have been included in the Corby family, but apparently it isn’t.

The S3370 features 3G, TouchWiz UI, Bluetooth and a photo camera on the back. Its touchscreen display seems to be a 2.8 inch QVGA one.

The phone has been approved by the FCC recently, although without 3G, so it will probably not be released in the US.

Opera Mini 5 and Opera Mobile 10 now out of beta

Available in beta versions for quite a while now, Opera Mini 5 for Java and BlackBerry and Opera Mobile 10 for Symbian and Windows Mobile have finally graduated to final versions.

The final versions of Opera’s mobile browser should obviously be more stable than the betas. They bring all the features that users are already familiar with, including fast browsing, tabbed browsing and Opera Link (for synchronizing bookmarks).

Jaebeom says, “2PM fighting!”

Soon after Jay Park / Jaebeom uploaded a video on Youtube featuring his own rendition of B.O.B’s Nothin’ on You, an immense number of people flooded the account’s profile page for more information on Jaebeom. In fact, Jay’s Youtube account already has nearly 20,000 subscribers after only three hours! He’s only got one video up, but it’s already received over 150,000 views and five thousand comments (and counting), undoubtedly making this one of today’s hottest kpop issues.

Many people, including Hottests and non-Hottests, are relieved to be able to see this popular figure seemingly healthy & relaxed in his video. Fans worldwide are also ecstatic about this new connection to Jay, since they can now directly post comments on his page and follow his Youtube account & actions (quite literally – you can even see his most recent sign-in time in the profile box. Creepy…).

Jolin Tsai gets offered 100 million to renew her contract

Jolin Tsai’s contract with Warner Music is expected to be up after the release of her new album in July. Following their well-publicized “bowling-date”, her ex Jay Chou is rumored to be interested in signing her. Warner Music was quick to react and reportedly offered 100 million (NTD) to re-sign the songstress.

With her status firmly established as the top (selling) female singer, Jolin has been signing shorter "1 year/1 album" contracts in recent years. After last year’s Butterfly, she merely extended her contract with Warner for one more album. Warner Music will be releasing her new album in July, and they are reportedly trying to renew her contract before Jay Chou steps in.

President Chou was rumored to be interested in signing Jolin back in 2007 when he started his own label JVR Music. She eventually signed with Warner, but it was obvious that their relationship has improved after they went bowling with friends in January. JVR also has experience in dealing with superstars like Jerry Yan previously, which is another concern for Warner. They are worried that their chances of re-signing Jolin might be ruined by Jay Chou despite being confident previously.
