30,000 apps available now in Android Market
Although it still has a long way to go until reaching Apple’s App Store’s popularity, Google’s Android Market is quickly growing – and it now offers about 30,000 applications.
Google didn’t officially announce this number, but Mobile Crunch says that a Google representative confirmed it today.
The news comes three months after an AndroLib report said there were 20,000 apps available in Android Market. However, Google said that at that time there were actually only 16,000 apps – which means about 14,000 apps were added in the last three months.
Reportedly, about 60% of the apps currently available in Android Market are free, and about 40% are paid.
Will Android Market host more than 100,000 by the end of 2010? It’s hard to say, but with about 60,000 Android phones shipped on a daily basis (and growing), it’s definitely possible.
