Robsten "Together" After Hours in London!

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart may not have posed together for the BAFTA Awards in London last night, where Rob presented Best Screenplay honors and Kristen won the Orange Rising Star Award.

But the Twilight duo managed to get in some quality time after the awards ceremony...

Robsten, happier together than they've been in more than a while, arrived at the Grosvenor House hotel, where the official, Grey Goose-sponsored BAFTA afterparty was held. Rob, who was "delighted" by Kristen's win, had an early call time today at 5 a.m. for his flick Bel Ami. But that doesn't mean he and Stewart didn't hang after the afterparty.

Lindsay Lohan 'Hit Rock Bottom' Because of Dad

In a revealing interview with British tabloid The Sun, Lindsay Lohan opens up about her troubled life.

"When my father was going public, that's when I hit rock bottom. I abused substances too much and it wasn't the answer to my problems. People need to know that," she says of the time in 2007 when Michael Lohan started talking to the press about his daughter's problems.

"I tried to mask my problems with alcohol, cocaine and mind-altering substances. Now, I'm in a place where I don't need to use anything and I can feel emotions because I choose to," she adds.

The actress hopes others can learn from her travails. "Mind-altering substances are so dangerous. If I can teach others, especially teens, by sharing my experiences, then that's what I will continue to do."

How Random Is Microsoft’s Random Browser Choice Screen In Europe?

After a lengthy legal face-off, Microsoft and European antitrust officials recently agreed on the implementation of a so-called ballot screen that will give European Windows users a chance to download rivals’ browsers – including Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Opera – as possible alternatives to Redmond’s own Internet Explorer (see screenshot above or go here).

Under the terms of the deal, Microsoft has agreed to provide a “ballot screen” to most European customers that will offer links to downloads of browsers offered by the company’s fiercest competitors when it comes to the Web browsing space, starting next week. The browser choice screen was designed to give all listed browsers a random order upon each new visit; antitrust regulators saw this as the right path to take to make European consumers more aware of alternative browsers to IE without favoring one over the other.

The iPad Will Rule the World

That's what Alan Kay said when Steve Jobs asked him about his thoughts on the iPhone. Knowing who Alan Kay is, you better listen up.

Alan Kay is one the greatest minds in the history of computing. He worked in the 70s at the legendary Xerox Palo Alto Research Center, where he said that "the best way to predict the future is to invent it!" He did precisely that. This is what he wrote in a 1971 memo:

In the 1990s there will be millions of personal computers. They will be the size of notebooks today, have high-resolution flat-screen reflexive displays, weigh less than ten pounds, have ten to twenty times the computing and storage capacity of an Alto. Let's call them Dynabooks.

He was right. His Dynabook design was the first laptop and tablet concept ever. And his idea of always-connected mobile computing is exactly what we have today. Not only he came up with these ideas out of nowhere, but he was also responsible for the overlapping windowing graphical user interface of the Alto. That GUI was the base for the Macintosh, and all the computer user interfaces we use today—except for our iPhones and Androids. Or the iPad, when it comes out.

Microsoft releases updated Windows 7 deployment tools

Microsoft has made available for download Windows-7-friendly versions of two of its Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP) tools as part of its campaign to get more businesses to move to Windows 7, and soon, Office 2010.

Released on February 22 is the final version of Application Virtualization (App-V) 4.6, as well as the near-final Release Candidate of the Service Pack 1 build of Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Virtualization (MED-V). These two tools ultimately will be part of MDOP 2010, the first of two MDOP releases that Microsoft officials are expecting to roll out in calendar 2010. (Today, MED-V 1.0 SP1 is being released simultaneously with MDOP 2010, as it is not yet in final form.)

MDOP is a bundle of various deployment tools that Microsoft sells to Software Assurance customers only. At the end of last year, when it added a previously-unscheduled MDOP 2009 R2 release to its line-up, Microsoft announced its intention to release MDOP 2010 in the first calendar quarter of this year.

'Windows 7 Was My Idea, But to Be Fair, I Don't Know What I'm Talking About'

Those "Windows 7 was my idea" ads only make sense if you assume the people with the ideas weren't idiots. This take on the ads is more honest about what Microsoft would've gotten if they'd really crowdsourced their OS.

Chinese Hacker Responsible For Google Attack Code Identified

U.S. authorities have tracked down the man who wrote the code used in the hacker attack on Google. He's a "freelance security consultant" in China, and his participation makes it even harder for the Chinese government to deny involvement.

The man's role was an oblique one: while he wrote the code that took advantage of a security hole in Internet Explorer, he himself didn't do any actual hacking. But according to the Financial Times, the Chinese government has "special access" to his work:

Twitter Hits 50 Million Tweets Per Day

Twitter is now processing 50 million Tweets a day, which comes to about 1.5 billion Tweets a month. Royal Pingdom recently reported that Twitter passed one billion Tweets a month last December and measured about 1.2 billion in January. On a daily basis, Royal Pindom was measuring 27 million Tweets a day back in November, 2009. But the latest data comes from Twitter itself (after attempting to strip out spam Tweets).

In January, comScore estimated that Twitter.com attracted almost 75 million unique visitors worldwide. But the number of messages going across Twitter is perhaps a more useful metric because it cuts across all third-party Twitter clients as well. At its most fundamental level, Twitter is a communications service, and 50 million messages a day is certainly a healthy number. What Twitter doesn’t say is how many of its users are responsible for those 50 million Tweets, or on average how many Tweets a day comes from each user. I’d love to see the distribution of Tweets across heavy, medium, and light users.

Windows Marketplace tweaked, installs to storage cards now possible (Android, take note)

Microsoft has released an updated version of its Marketplace for Mobile application for WinMo 6.0 and up recently that makes a few key changes -- nothing that's going to shake you to your very core the same way that Windows Phone 7 Series did last week, certainly, but there's some good stuff in here nonetheless. Most importantly, Marketplace will now allow for app installs straight to memory cards, a critical capability for devices that don't have gobs of storage built in (and something that Android tragically still lacks -- for the moment, anyhow). We've also got deep links to app product pages, user-selectable regional stores, Russian support, and the list goes on, so it seems like a must-have upgrade for anyone on a 6.x device. Just don't break the bank going on a wild, Red Bull-fueled app buying rampage now, alright?

Google Earth for Android 2.1 available now

Available for Apple’s iPhone since 2008, Google Earth is now finally available for Android, too – although you need to have an Android 2.1 device (like the Nexus One) to use it.

The Android version of Google Earth is the fastest mobile version yet and comes with Roads layer, a feature that you might know from the desktop version (it provides “road labels drawn on top of the satellite imagery”).

Leveraging on the integrated voice recognition capability of Android 2.1, Google Earth for Android also features a “pocket globe that responds to your every command,” so every time you want to search for something, you can do it by voice only.

Lady Gaga in Cosmo & Q Magazine

Lady Gaga Meltdown Throws Q Magazine Shoot Into Tailspin

Pop sensation Lady Gaga is making headlines for a recent photoshoot with Q Magazine, which was allegedly thrown into chaos after the “Pokerface” singer broke down in tears and stormed off set, according to a new report.

Gaga — a former exotic dancer who stormed the pop charts with a parade of dance hits in 2009 — is accused of lashing out at a Q photographer during a shoot for the mag’s March issue at London’s Mayfair Hotel earlier this month.

Not the teen rebel: Nick Jonas treats Selena Gomez to a day out on the golf course

Nick Jonas believes that showing his girl a good time doesn't mean taking her on a fancy and expensive night out on the town.

Because the only clubs he seems to prefer are nine irons, drivers and putters.

Nick, the youngest member of US pop sensation Jonas Brothers, took Wizards of Waverly Place actress Selena Gomez on a sensible and grown-up day out on a golf course in Los Angeles yesterday.

The pair, both 17, were all smiles as they were snapped arriving at the green afternoon in dazzling Californian sunshine.

Pushing their golf trolleys - hers in pink, his in blue - the 17-year-olds soon got settled as they found their place to tee off from.

And they looked like they were having a whale of a time as they laughed and joked and ran after their balls.

How Developers Really Feel About Windows Phone 7

Windows Phone 7 could save Microsoft's mobile future, but what do developers think about it? IM app BeeJive's CEO Kai Yu: "I think it's just royally fucked. That place is so big: The tools, the people, it's all so fragmented."

The one developer Wired talked to who was actually kinda up on Windows Phone 7, behind the productivity app Pageonce, was still hesitant about the fact the dev tools might use Microsoft's Silverlight tech: ""Silverlight, geez," he said. "Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water."

iPad Video Showing Flash Rendered Perfectly Reappears On Apple Site

I'm sure someone at Apple has scars on their hands from the major wrist-slapping that's occurred over their video cock-up of the iPad running Flash—but how could they make the same mistake again?

When Apple announced the iPad, you may remember some of their promotional videos showed the tablet running Flash on the NY Times website. They quickly rectified the problem—which was never explained fully, so we still don't know if they were filming a prototype that did actually have Flash, or if they deliberately added it in to stir hype—but according to a Macrumors reader, the video showing Flash has returned. The original video caused the FTC to receive complaints about the false advertising, which isn't the first time they've been hit with that criticism.

New Sony PS3 Slim consoles get FCC tested

Sony have attempted to discretely push two new PlayStation 3 Slim variants through the FCC, under the auspices of their Sand Design Enterprise cover company. The CECH-2101A and CECH-2101B represent a minor SKU tweak over the current-gen CECH-2001A and CECH-2001B, and of course the FCC filing is singularly unhelpful in describing what exactly the changes are. WiFI b/g and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR are both onboard, just like the current consoles.

As for the A and B suffixes, they refer to the 120GB and 250GB HDD variants. There’s some speculation that Sony have shaved some of the production costs off the PS3 by switching component suppliers – it was revealed earlier this month that the company still lose money on every console they sell – and are thus forced to resubmit the otherwise identical consoles for re-testing.

Hot summer Barbie

Actress Barbie Hsu had to strip in front of a gawking public and then confront her fear of swimming.

On 6 Oct, the 33-year-old Taiwanese actress-host filmed her new romantic movie, Hot Summer Days, on a Hong Kong beach with actor Nicholas Tse.

In front of many curious beachgoers and the prying eyes of the paparazzi, Barbie – more commonly known as Da S (or Big S) – stripped down to her pants and cropped halterneck top.

“I was very nervous because there were many people and I was wearing very little. I didn’t dare to leave the restroom at first,” she told FiRST.

“But I realised that if I didn’t die that day, I’d ‘die’ the next day, so I gritted my teeth and left the restroom. The people outside snapped away, but I consoled myself that that’s the life of an actress, doing things that I wouldn’t get to do normally.”

Barbie was not exaggerating when she used the word “die” to describe the filming for that scene.

In it, she had to swim out to sea after removing her clothes. The problem was, she’s hydrophobic after nearly drowning when she was 16.

Jo PD criticises, “Why are the idols clinging on to the nose-buried money”

Jo PD criticizes the idol groups of the Kpop circle.

Jo PD recently commented, “The industry itself has shrunk so much and there is so little left for everyone, now even the young ones are all hanging on to the nose-buried money. The mass public has lost their interests for music made for the masses, now they have become pro consumers who just want instant entertainment.”
