A front-facing iPhone camera means video calling, but it's also a sign of something bigger. Combined with other recent leaks, it means that Apple is bringing iChat to the iPhone. Everything about voice calling may be about to change.
iChat, You Chat
So, how does the appearance of a front-facing camera change standard voice calling? Let's connect the dots:
• Front-facing camera means video calling
• Leaks suggest video calling is part of overall iChat
• iChat software and new VOIP provisions in OS means voice chat, too (maybe even for older iPhones)
• iChat branding, arrival of iPad and new OS multitasking all suggest compatibility with desktop app and standard buddy lists
• iPhone-to-desktop compatibility means everybody talks to everybody, no special plans needed

Even after getting voted off "American Idol" this week, Tim Urban is keeping it positive. The 24-year-old best known for having "adorable" smile (Ellen DeGeneres' words), trending on Twitter and being a last-minute addition to the top 24 says he's got his eye on a career in acting, singing, or being a Colgate spokesperson -- basically, wherever life takes him.
Shortly after his elimination, Urban spoke to reporters about how it felt being this season's favorite "Vote for the Worst" contestant, his relationship with Simon Cowell, and more. Here's what he had to say.

Google has never been too inclined to give the world the straight dope on total app counts in the Android Market, but other companies -- notably AndroLib -- have been happy to try to pick up the slack. The app tracking site now reports a grand total of 50,031 approved binaries as of this writing, marking a pretty magical milestone in light of the Market's humble beginnings as a free-only cache of a handful of apps for the G1. To be fair, AndroLib is aggregating across all of the Market's regional sites -- you won't find 50,000 apps in any one Market alone -- but it's undoubtedly a solid sign for the platform. Now we just need a little Froyo to go with that, right?

Windows Mobile always felt like a business smartphone platform with – later on, at least – consumer-focused extras bolted on. When Microsoft announced Windows Phone 7 earlier this year, however, the new smartphone OS felt like a consumer platform with a few vague nods to business use. Now, thanks to the latest WP7 emulator build, we’ve got a better idea of how Office Hub functionality will work on the upcoming handsets.
There’s obviously the ability to open and make basic edits to documents, but more interesting is how the smartphone OS links into enterprise stores like SharePoint to access communal documentation. Of course, we’d still reach for our notebook if we wanted to do any heavy lifting, but all of a sudden the QWERTY ‘board on the leaked Dell Lightning is looking a whole lot more tempting.

8-member girl group After School recently made their comeback with Bang!, garnering much interest for their novel concept and catchy song. As always with After School, their choreography, which retains power yet sexy, is considered a high priority among others.
However, it has become clear that their comeback song isn’t the only thing creating a buzz as the choreography for Bang!–five seconds of it, to be precise–has been accused of choreographic plagiarism.
It has drawn the attention of Camillo Lauricella, a dancer and choreographer located in Germany, that a dance number he, along with Nika Kljun, created was stolen.

Don't tell us we didn't try. In spite of all our pleading for HTC to acquire the troubled Palm, Inc. and produce a sparkling union of awesome, Reuters is this morning reporting that the Taiwanese hardware manufacturer has decided against the idea. According to an internal source, there "just weren't enough synergies to take the deal forward." Then again, this conclusion was reached after HTC reviewed Palm's numbers, so maybe that's just a nice way of saying that Palm's financials are worse than we might think. We're also told that now only Lenovo remains as a serious contender out of Asia, following the stalling of talks between Huawei and Rubinstein's crew. Such a deal would make plenty of sense given Lenovo's cash reserves and mobile aspirations, but it'd be nowhere near as exciting for our geeky imaginations.
