Princess and the philarmonic: Eva Mendes is the belle of the ball at Walt Disney Concert Hall

Actress Eva Mendes made an appearance at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles last night, and appeared to take inspiration from the celebrated animator's famous princesses.

Mendes, 36, stole the show at the Los Angeles Philharmonic's opening night gala in a floor-length pastel pink gown by haute couture designer Christian Dior.

And all that was needed was a glass slipper to complement the 36-year-old's Cinderella style floaty, plunging gown complete with delicate gold beading.

The Hitch star glided as she made her way into the famous hall posing only to smile for the obligatory red carpet snaps.

For once she kept her stunning curves under wraps, but still looked amazingly glamorous. But she wasn't just there as a decorative invitee.

UK carrier's roadmap points to October 21 release for Windows Phone 7, over 2,000 apps at launch

The whole world and his neighbor's dog may already know when Windows Phone 7 will be announced, but when are the actual phones going to hit actual shelves? If you're in the US, that time still looks to be a month away, but the UK release window has just been narrowed down from late October to a single, albeit still speculative, date: October 21. Our tipster forwards the above snapshot from a Three UK document showing a "Windows 7Phone" nestled in between the BlackBerry Torch and Samsung Europa. Its Super AMOLED display tells us we're definitely looking at a Samsung handset, while the 4-inch diagonal suggests it'll be the Cetus (SGH-i916/7). This sheet of revelation also finally gives us a hint as to the number of apps WP7 will start off with, enumerating them at "over 2,000 at launch." We don't know why Microsoft's been so shy about that number -- 2,000 good apps are more than enough.

Sandrine and Will seal "Endless Love" with a kiss

Sandrine Pinna and Will Pan have many kissing scenes in their latest drama, “Endless Love”, where they would even kiss while buying groceries. As expected, the drama wrapped up its filming with Sandrine and Will's wedding scene, and the bride and groom kissed passionately while looking beautiful and handsome in their wedding gown and suit. But after the kiss, Sandrine suddenly realized that Will still had not recovered from his cold, so she scolded, “How come you didn’t take good care of yourself? You worry me!”

The filming to “Endless Love” lasted three months, and during the final scene, Will became teary while saying his dialogues – feeling reluctant to bid farewell to the filming crew. When Sandrine was asked if she would miss Will, she laughed, “Maybe! But probably not for long, and maybe I’ll stop missing him after tomorrow.” Upon hearing this, Will immediately rolled his eyes.

In addition to kissing scenes, there were also many crying scenes in the drama. Will had even once asked Director Lin He Long to give him a scolding in order to get into the mood of crying. Since Will has decreased his number of retakes tremendously compared to his last drama (Miss No Good), he successfully rid himself of the “King of NGs (retakes)” title.

Moses Chan implies Raymond Lam not qualified enough for TV King battle

Due to the big hit Can't Buy Me Love, Moses Chan had a rise in popularity. Last night, he and a few models attended a sporting goods store opening reception. It was rumored that he and Wayne Lai collectively tried to block Raymond Lam from getting the TVB King title. Moses clearly supported Wayne, expressing that he does not mind letting him get it: "If I were to choose, of course I'll pick Wayne. If he wants to get it, I will definitely give it to him. Wayne is the Best Actor in many people hearts!" He also expressed that he has interest in catching No Regrets (Rosy Business 2), the cast and storyline is very attractive.

Singing is Raymond's stronghold

Asked if Raymond Lam has no chance? Moses laughed: "Don't say that, he had movies and a concert, why would he not have a chance? Raymond is the idol to many young people. He is handsome, can sing well and have great developments on singing. This something that TVB shaped successfully. (That means he sings better than he acts?) Don't say it like that, but Wayne and I have been in this industry for so long, everyone can feel our misery. On contrast, Raymond didn't have that much, but singing is his stronghold, and acting is Wayne and I strength." Speaking of rumored girlfriend Bernice Liu winning the Top 10 Best Dressed award, he praised that she dresses well, and there is no need to ask him for advice! Asked if he'll ask her for advice? Moses said: "Can't say that! The way we dress can only be described in two ways, either it's good looking or not good looking! But she dresses well!"

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 won't be in 3-D after all

Hey all you 3-D haters, you’re in luck. The first part of Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows will not be in 3-D. Warner Bros. announced today that the 3-D conversion of the first installment of the final chapter would not be completed in time. “We do not want to disappoint fans who have long anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey,” said the statement. As such, Part 1 will only be in conventional and IMAX theaters.

The move should be applauded as Warner Bros. is the studio behind Clash of the Titans, the Sam Worthington-starrer released in 3-D earlier this year. The movie was one of the first to adopt a post-production 3-D conversion process that was highly criticized in the press and became a poster child for all things wrong with the new technology. It’s clear the studio doesn’t want to be criticized again for another rushed conversion. Director David Yates will now have the time to turn Part 2, which bows July 15, 2011, into a 3-D spectacle worthy of the billion-dollar franchise.

Part 1 of Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows opens worldwide on November 19, 2010.

Watch a sneak peek of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

The next instalment of Narnia will hit UK cinemas in December and these new images from the 3D film have been revealed along with a new trailer ahead of its release.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader sees Lucy and Edmund Pevensie return to Narnia with their cousin Eustace.

As a painting of a ship is brought to life, the three children fall into the picture and have to be rescued from the wild ocean.

Luckily they are saved by a royal ship, The Dawn Treader, where the three characters meet up with Prince Caspian for a trip across the sea.

They join Caspian’s voyage to find the seven lords who were banished when Miraz took over the throne.

Along their way they encounter dragons, dwarves, merfolk and a band of lost warriors while they sail toward Aslan’s country, reaching the edge of the world.

British actors Tilda Swinton and Ben Barnes will return in the latest film, to reprise their roles as the White Witch and Caspian.

Google stays strong as Yahoo slips in search market

Bing-powered search sites still no match for Google and its 72% share

Google had a good month in September, with its search share gaining and rivals Yahoo and Microsoft Bing taking a hit.

Google, the dominant search leader, grabbed 72.15% of all U.S. searches in the four weeks ending Oct. 2, according to Hitwise, an online traffic monitor. That's up slightly from 71.59% in August.

Microsoft Bing, which is Google's biggest rival, didn't have such a great month in September, though.

Hitwise reported Friday that Bing-powered search sites handled 23.64% of U.S. searches for the month, with Yahoo grabbing 13.54% and Bing itself pulling in 10.10%. Bing-powered search sites are down 2% overall, while Yahoo is down 5%. Bing itself went up 2%.

Microsoft and Yahoo announced in August that Bing is fueling Yahoo search results in the U.S. and Canada. The search integration came more than a year after both companies announced they were joining forces to better take on Google -- since neither company had made any headway on its own.

The latest Hitwise report shows that Yahoo suffered after integration, while Bing saw only a small bump.

"It's a pretty small slip and only based on a month's worth of data," said Dan Olds, an analyst at Gabriel Consulting Group. "I'm sure that these aren't the results that Bing marketers are looking for... but the holiday season might be key for them. Search engines receive a real workout with all of the holiday shopping, travel planning and the like. It will be interesting to see how Bing fares over the next three months or so."

'The Dilemma': Universal deletes 'gay' scene from trailer

The full-length trailer for Ron Howard’s The Dilemma will be shorn clean of its bizarre “electric cars are gay” scene, a rep from Universal has confirmed to EW. It’s not yet known whether the lines in question will remain in the movie, which is still in postproduction and due for release Jan. 14. Criticism of the trailer hit a high when CNN anchor Anderson Cooper set it in opposition to the anti-bullying initiatives CNN and other networks have adopted since the highly-publicized suicide of a gay Rutgers student last week. The teaser trailer “was not intended to cause anyone discomfort,” according to a statement the studio sent out today.

In the scene, Vince Vaughn’s character elucidates two forms of “gay”: homosexual gay and an entirely different, uncool form of gay typically associated with the electric cars he’s promoting. He goes on to clarify electric-car gay as “my-parents-are-chaperoning-the-dance gay.” Meanwhile, the actors playing executives nod at their roundtable as if Vaughn isn’t stringing nonsense words together.

The studio told Deadline.com that they’d shared the original trailer with organizations like GLAAD, and that no one initially expressed any objections with the scenes. However, GLAAD has released a statement, saying that they “expressed these concerns directly to Universal Pictures prior to the trailer’s release.”

Windows Phone 7: Defining moment for Ballmer?

Microsoft has a lot riding on the success of the upcoming Windows Phone 7. The same could also be said of CEO Steve Ballmer.

Consider, for instance, the recent judgment rendered by Microsoft's board, which has signaled some dissatisfaction with Ballmer's job performance by cutting his bonus for 2010. One key reason: Microsoft's aborted mobile foray with the short-lived Kin.

Other reasons Ballmer didn't get his full potential bonus, according to the board, included the overall loss of market share in the mobile phone business, along with the need for Microsoft to "pursue innovations" in the area of "new form factors"--likely a veiled reference to tablet PCs, a realm now dominated by the Apple iPad and in which Microsoft has so far failed to make a significant dent.

Consider, too, the venting by some Microsoft employees on the site Glassdoor.com, which publishes job listings, salary information, and company reviews, and also gives workers a forum to either praise or put down their employers and CEOs.

On a five-point scale, Microsoft as a company scores a 3.5 average in current Glassdoor rankings, with many workers applauding the company for its compensation and benefits, work/life balance, and employee morale. But Ballmer didn't fare as well among the rank and file, or at least the approximately 1,100 (out of an overall workforce of 90,000) who offered feedback via Glassdoor.

Eminem Doesn't Allow Profanity At Home

He is well-known for using foul language in lyrics, but rapper Eminem says bad words have no place in his own home with children around, he told television news magazine "60 Minutes."

Early in his career, the Grammy-winning artist was often the object of complaints about violent, explicit, misogynistic and homophobic lyrics in songs from his albums such as "The Slim Shady LP" and "The Marshal Mathers LP."

But at home, Eminem will have none of it. "Profanity around my house? No," he told "60 Minutes" correspondent Anderson Cooper.

"I'm not saying there's not glimpses of me in the music, there's not truth in...things that I say, but this is my music, this is my art," he added.

Eminem said he does not feel comfortable using profanity in front of his daughter Hailie, now 15, and his two other adopted daughters, Lainey and Whitney.

"I'm a parent, I have daughters. I mean, how would I really sound, as a person, walking around my house 'Bitch, pick this up.' You know what I mean? I don't cuss," he said.

During the interview, which airs Sunday October 10 on the CBS television network show, Eminem also discusses his childhood, his rise in the music industry, being white in the predominantly black rap world, and his drug addiction.

Additionally, Eminem takes Cooper through the rhyming process and to his hometown of Detroit, Michigan.

Scott Disick Defends Kim Kardashian From Drink Toss, Gets Booted From Club

Scott Disick is sticking up for the Kardashians—or at least one of them.

Kourtney Kardashian's much maligned boyfriend was clubbing with her and her sisters, Kim and Khloé, at New York City's Juliet nightclub last night. And naturally, there was drama.

We'll let Kim explain:

"A drunk male fan came up to me and asked to take a picture, and I obliged, but his girlfriend, who was also drunk, got a little out of hand," Kim posted on her blog.

"His girlfriend thought he was hitting on Kim and went ballistic and threw a drink on her," an eyewitness tells E! News.

So then Scott got involved.

"It was a big crazy fight," the source tells E! "He got the girl off of Kim and really protected her."

But apparently, security wasn't impressed by Scott's actions and booted him from the club.

Verizon Wireless will have ‘interactive launch’ of BlackBerry 6 on October 14

Hey, what do we have here? One of our Verizon sources was kind enough to send us this piece of intel regarding Verizon Wireless and BlackBerry 6. It looks like the company plans of having an “interactive launch” of the BlackBerry 6 operating system on Thursday, October 14. The word interactive makes us think that the actual software bits may not be available, however, at minimum, this indicates a BB6 launch is right around the corner. We’ll keep digging and report what we find.

Watch Miley Cyrus' New Video for latest single 'Who Owns My Heart'

Miley Cyrus‘ evolution into a pop-dance diva continues with the debut of the sexy new video for “Who Owns My Heart,” the latest single from her most recent album Can’t Be Tamed. Just like the perplexing lyrics in the song (“Who owns my heart? Is it love or is it art?”), the dancey, vampy video makes little effort to string together a storyline beyond Miley waking up in a bed, heading to the club to gyrate (complete with a head of crimped hair, scandalously low-cut gold lamé top, and lots of bangles), and then head back home. Truly, the theme of this video could be: hair! There’s a lot of it flying around! There’s almost a rave-y vibe to the whole thing, too. But who’s complaining? Not us! It’s fun! And really sultry! What more could you want? This song is a pulsy, possibly club-ready jam that deserves single status—and a frothy fun video like this, too. Catch the whole thumpa-thumpa deliciousness after the jump:

'Two and a Half Men' Star Becomes Richest Kid on TV

You may only know Angus T. Jones as "the half" from CBS' 'Two and a Half Men,' but that likely doesn't faze him now that he's filthy rich. Jones, who turns 17 today, became the highest paid kid on TV after he signed a 26-episode deal worth $300,000 per episode and $7.8 million guaranteed total for the next two seasons. Oh, and he also got a $500,000 signing bonus, TMZ reports.

That's not all the "half" could earn, however, since that deal just includes the guaranteed money. In the end, Jones could rake in $14.8 million from two full-season orders of 48 episodes.

However, that's nothing compared to what his leading co-stars got. Charlie Sheen signed a $52 million deal for the next two seasons, while Jon Cryer is making a little more than half of that.

While Jones, as the gassy Jake, isn't even the star of his own show, he's still earning more than Miley Cyrus, Miranda Cosgrove and Demi Lovato combined, according to figures in the New York Post. The 16-year-old Cosgrove, from 'iCarly,' earns $180,000 per episode, while Cyrus, 17, earns $15,000 from 'Hannah Montana' and Lovato, 17, earns $12,000 on 'Sonny with a Chance.' Miley, of course, also has a major music career on the side, which helped her earn $48 million total in the last year, according to Forbes.

The article also reports Jones started acting when he was five years old and has his eyes set on college, but doesn't know if he wants to continue acting after the hit CBS show wraps up.

Android Chief On Windows Phone 7: “The World Doesn’t Need Another Platform”

PC Magazine has posted a very interesting interview with Android chief Andy Rubin today. In it, he talks about their relationship with the carriers, the next version of Android, and of course, the Android rivals. While he never mentions the iPhone by name, he does speak to Microsoft’s upcoming Windows Phone 7. Of it, he says: “the world doesn’t need another platform.”

Rubin says that based on the screen shots he’s seen (which is funny — I’d say there’s no way he hasn’t actually seen a device itself, just about everyone in Silicon Valley has at this point), he thinks Windows Phone 7 looks “interesting” but he doesn’t see the value of it when Android is already out there. “Android is free and open; I think the only reason you create another platform is for political reasons,” Rubin says.

Of course, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has already given his stance on Android being free — that stance being: it’s not free, you have to pay patent fees for it, notably, to Microsoft.

Gwyneth Paltrow "Shocked" After Director Offers Sex for Role

For Elle's annual Women in Hollywood issue, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson and Hilary Swank grace three different November covers and open up about their past showbiz struggles and where women stand today.

Paltrow, 37, is an Oscar-winning actress, who is already generating buzz for her role as a boozy country singer in December's Country Strong.

But her road to success wasn't always easy.

"When I was just starting out, someone suggested that we finish a meeting in the bedroom," she reveals. "I left. I was pretty shocked. I could see how someone who didn't know better might worry, 'My career will be ruined if I don’t give this guy a blow job!'"

She says she sometimes feels "dejected" when she looks at roles being offered to women nowadays.

"There’s a lot that’s okay, but there’s little that's really good, especially for someone my age," she says. "Sometimes you find out that something you really liked is going to someone 10 years younger. I find it heartening that Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock have been able to find and create amazing projects."

HTC HD2 spotted running Windows Phone 7, for real this time?

After some initial waffling on the subject, Microsoft has pretty steadfastly denied that any older Windows Mobile devices would be able to run Windows Phone 7 -- even the seemingly capable HTC HD2. That hasn't stopped folks from hoping and trying, however, and developer / hacker Cotulla has now produced a video that appears to show an HD2 booting and (briefly) running Windows Phone 7. While a 1:30 long boot process doesn't exactly make for the most exciting video, it is at least a bit more convincing that the ones that cropped up in the early Windows Phone 7 days, which seemed just a bit too slick to be true. Head on past the break to see for yourself.

The raunchy sex scenes that prove, at 65, Helen Mirren's not shy or retiring

We thought she was brave when she appeared in a bikini at 63.

But Dame Helen Mirren obviously doesn’t have the body hang-ups that most of us do.

For two years on, she’s starring in a nude movie sex scene.

And although many would demand the soft focus treatment, whatever their age, it seems the Oscar winner was happy to face reality.

Dame Helen, 65, who plays a brothel madam in Love Ranch, said of the scene with 35-year-old Sergio Peris-Mencheta: ‘I didn’t want it to be a fake, romantic soft-lensed moment.

To complicate things further, her husband, Taylor Hackford, is directing. But she added: ‘I trusted him to make it as true as possible.'

AVEX to release 2NE1 special album in Japan with a bonus F*ck You?

HMV Online has released some exciting and interesting information about 2NE1 and their efforts in Japan.

According to HMV, the girls of 2NE1 are scheduled to release a special “To Anyone” album under AVEX / Rhythm Zone in Japan on December 8th. Something of immediate notice is that there will be a bonus track on the album titled ‘FUCK YOU’. No, I’m not kidding, here’s a screen shot on HMV:

Jealous Woman Throws Drink on Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian is getting plenty of good footage for her upcoming E! reality show, Kourtney and Kim Take New York.

TMZ reports that a woman got jealous after she spotted her man asking Kim, 29, for a photo at Juliet Supper Club NYC, so she threw a drink at the E! star.

Khloe, 26, and Scott Disick attempted to intervene, and during the process, Khloe's ring flew off and "skidded across the floor," according to TMZ.

"Khloe literally dove across the floor to retrieve it ... which she eventually did," the site reports.

As they left the club, they all covered their faces.

Disick, 27, was hardly the gentleman.

Footage shows him asking some club girls to wait for another cab, as he wanted to take the first one that arrived.

First Look at Angelina Jolie On Set in Budapest

With the kids about to start school and Brad Pitt fresh off the plane from America, it's time for Angelina Jolie to start directing. A new film, that is.

Making her directorial debut, Jolie, 35, has teamed up with Oscar-winning producer Graham King (The Departed) on her yet untitled film, which began shooting a week ago.

"Angelina is one of the most accomplished and dedicated film professionals I have had the pleasure to work with, so I jumped at the chance to produce her directorial debut alongside her," King tells PEOPLE. "I am very happy to be a witness to a new film director in the making."

Jolie went local when she cast her film, recruiting European actors Zana Marjanovic (Cannes critics week grand prize winner for Snow), Goran Kostic (Taken, Children of Men) and Rade Serbedzija (Batman Begins, Mission Impossible II).

The film is a love story set against the backdrop of the Bosnian War, and shooting kicked off at a Budapest orphanage.

Samsung Wave II S8530 pops up in the wild

Samsung’s new Wave II S8530 has shown up in the wild, complete with the latest bada 1.2 OS and a larger display than its Wave S8500 predecessor. HDBlog grabbed some hands-on time, finding the switch from 3.3-inch Super AMOLED to 3.7-inch Super LCD means the Wave II is thicker than the old model.

The new version of bada, meanwhile, is said to be “identical” to what you’ll find on the Wave S8500, which doesn’t exactly bode well. Previous reports over a leaked version of 1.2 suggested there were speed performance improvements, which hopefully we’ll see on the original Wave since Samsung intend to roll the update OS out to the S8500 at some point.

New hardware and software aside, it doesn’t bypass the fact that we’re still not certain there’s actually a place for bada in the smartphone line-up. Samsung’s persistence with Android, meanwhile, suggests that at least some people internally might feel the same way.

T-Mobile responds to complaints from G2 users seeking root

In case you haven’t been keeping up on your HTC G2 news: The recently released Android 2.2, G2 handset from T-Mobile has a built-in security feature that is having an adverse effect on those who are trying to root the device. As T-Mobile explains:

The HTC software implementation on the G2 stores some components in read-only memory as a security measure to prevent key operating system software from becoming corrupted and rendering the device inoperable. There is a small subset of highly technical users who may want to modify and re-engineer their devices at the code level, known as “rooting,” but a side effect of HTC’s security measure is that these modifications are temporary and cannot be saved to permanent memory. As a result the original code is restored.
