American Idol Down to 11 as Simon Issues Ryan a Warning

Lacey Brown Goes Home. Tim Urban and Paige Miles were also in the bottom three.

Simon Cowell may be leaving American Idol after this season, beware anyone who crosses him while he's still around.

"Want to get the eyeballing out of the way?" he pointedly asked Ryan Seacrest at the start of Wednesday's show, criticizing the Idol host for his "aggressive behavior" last night. (Indeed, Ryan has been going to bat for the scorned contestants more often this season.)

"I just thought that you needed to be a bit more constructive with them," Ryan said innocently.

Sandra Bullock Cancels Plans for British Premiere Admist Rumors of Marriage Trouble

As the tabloid swirl around her husband Jesse James continues, Sandra Bullock has abruptly canceled her participation in the British premiere of 'The Blind Side.'

In a statement from Warner Brothers UK, the 45-year-old Oscar winner apologized for not making it across the pond for the London premiere scheduled for next Tuesday, according to Usmagazine.com

"Due to unforeseen personal reasons, a trip abroad to support 'The Blind Side' has been deemed impossible at this time," the statement reads. "I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your continued support of the film."

Meanwhile, PEOPLE.com reports that the actress moved out of the home she shared with Jesse James just days before reports of his infidelity hit the tabloids.

This Just In! Kristen Stewart is Completely Flawless

For all of you who've bashed us for blabbing on and on about how much we totally heart Kristen Stewart, listen up: We're sure you've heard the saying, "a picture is worth a thousand words," right?

Well, evidence sure does exist that K.Stew's hit her red-carpet stride, for sure!

She strutted her stuff in Pucci and looked damn near flawless at tonight's The Runaways premiere in New York. At the Sunshine Theater, Stewart couldn't have been any more of a ray of young fashion light, sorry for the dorky analogy. But she was just that brilliant.

Hair up, dress short 'n' sexy, legs to live for, babe's got it all.

No wonder Rob's so into her. So are we!

IT's 'love affair' with Windows XP ending, says survey

Admins divorce aging OS, hook up with sexier Windows 7 trophy

Businesses are finally prying their hands from Windows XP as they warm to Windows 7, a research company said today.

"Over the years, IT has had a real love affair with XP," said Diane Hagglund, a senior analyst at Dimensional Research and the author of a poll that surveyed over 900 IT professionals in January. "It was just a great OS. It just worked for them. But that feeling is going away."

According to Hagglund, 60% of those polled said that they were more concerned about the cost and overhead of migrating to Windows 7 than they were about continuing to supporting the nearly-nine-year-old Windows XP. The remaining 40% felt the opposite, that they were more worried about holding XP's hand than migrating to Windows 7.

HTC responds to Apple's patent lawsuit, will 'fully defend itself'

HTC hasn't filed its official reply to Apple's patent lawsuit in court yet, but the company just gave us an updated and expanded statement on the case, saying that while it "strongly advocates intellectual property protection," it disagrees with Apple's actions and will "fully defend itself." Natch. HTC obviously wasn't eager to divulge whether or not that means it's going to countersue Apple with its own patents, but we're sort of expecting it -- we'll find out more when lawyers do their thing in a few weeks. Oh, and we also asked HTC if and when Google would get involved, but didn't get an answer -- we'll let you know if we hear anything. Full statement after the break.

Microsoft on Multitask, Copy and Paste

Windows Phone 7 Series Multitasking: The Real Deal

We've definitely learned a ton about Windows Phone 7 Series here at MIX, but getting the full picture on multitasking has been difficult, since the OS isn't ready, no one has final hardware, and the emulator seems to behave differently than actual devices and Microsoft's descriptions. So let's set the record straight on multitasking: it's not going to happen, at least not in the traditional way. Not only have we directly confirmed this with Microsoft executives several times, but the developer sessions here are totally clear on the matter -- you don't tell 1000+ devs that they should expect their apps to be killed whenever the user switches away from them if you don't mean it. Now, that's not to say that the OS can't do multitasking: first-party apps like the Zune player and IE can run in the background, and third-party apps are actually left running in a suspended state (Microsoft calls it "dehydrated") as long as the system doesn't need any additional resources. If the user cycles back to an app, it's resumed ("rehydrated") and life continues merrily along, but if the user opens other apps and the system needs additional resources, the app is killed without any indication or remorse.

Charlene Choi disclosed that she and Ronald Cheng have split up

Charlene Choi (Ah Sa) disclosed yesterday that she and Ronald Cheng have ended their 6 years love affairs. Ah Sa was in Beijing attending a promotion activity for the movie "Beauty On Duty" yesterday. The reporters kept asking her whether she has accepted Ronald's proposal? Ah Sa was in flood of tears and she told the reporters that they have in fact split up for a while. However, Ah Sa said they are still friends.

Yesterday, a magazine reported that Ah Sa and Ronald secretly got married in Los Angeles in 2006, parents from both of them attended the wedding ceremony. iT gave everybody a shock to hear that they have split up. Ah Sa said "We have split up for a while. We didn't intend to bring it to the open, but there have been so many rumors about us recently. I feel I have to clarify our relationship now. We have separated because we have understood each other so well, not because of a third person or the wedding rumor. We have good memories together and we are still friends." As Sa was in tears and she added "This is the last time I will talk about my person affairs. I have split up with him for a long time and I hope the media don't portray us as a happy couple. We are not together anymore." The reporters were all stunned after hearing that. Afterwards, some reporters contacted Ronald who was in Chengdu to clarify if it is true that he and Ah Sa have separated, Ronald told the reporter it is true that they have split up a long time ago and they are still friends.

More concept photos to ‘Black Soshi’ + clarifications for ‘Run Devil Run’

With the full song and MV reveal on 17th and 18th March for So Nyeo Shi Dae’s 2nd repackaged album, more concept photos for the album has been revealed.

Also some clarifications to comparison of the song to ‘guided version of a song by singer Ke$ha.

According to an article from AsiaKyungjae, Busbee(USA), Alex James(UK), Kalle Engstrom(Sweden), and other composers from around the world collaborated to create this song. There may be some confusion about the song due to American popstar, Ke$ha, recording a “guide version” of the song before her debut around August 2008. Since it was only used as a demo and was never released, the song’s official first release is by SNSD.

Lady Gaga As Assassin In Next Quentin Tarantino Movie

After paying homage to the groundbreaking director in her controversial new music video, “Telephone,” industry insiders tell MTV News that the “Bad Romance” singer recently befriended Tarantino and the pair are seriously discussing the possibility of featuring her in his next big screen project.

“Quentin is a huge fan of Gaga and loves her whole personality,” a source close to the lensman revealed. “He has already sounded her out on a couple of projects, one of which would see her playing an assassin. Movies would be a huge new venture for Gaga but she’s excited at the prospect and Quentin has told her she’d be a natural.”

IE9: Microsoft's new browser gets no respect at all

Yesterday, influential web designer Jeffrey Zeldman admitted “there is no such thing as a calm discussion of improvements to a Microsoft browser,” and then proceeded to accidentally prove his own case.

Someone pointed out Zeldman’s post to me yesterday, during a brief lull in the proceedings at MIX10, and I scanned it quickly. Although it carried the bland title IE9 Preview, the post itself was dripping with sarcasm, laced with backhanded compliments, and supplemented with several extra-large servings of contempt for everything Microsoft is doing with Internet Explorer. Zeldman criticized the tone of Microsoft’s public announcements, calling it “enforced bragging.” He argued that “Getting IE fully up to speed on web standards is much more important than introducing any proprietary innovations.” In one breath he said, “I’m not challenging the quality of the hardware and software improvements,” and then, in the very next breath, he criticized Microsoft’s “brilliant browser engineers” for “torturing the IE rendering engine every couple of years instead of putting it out of its misery.”

Another LG Windows Phone 7 Series handset leaked?

We’ve just spotted a new leaked image that allegedly shows a second Windows Phone 7 Series device made by LG (the first one being the LG Panther).

The image has been initially posted at Neowin but it has been removed – which obviously suggests that it’s either fake, or it shouldn’t have been posted because it shows a real device that’s got a long way to go until being officially announced.

There aren’t too many details about this supposed LG Windows Phone 7 handset, but it’s said that it has a QWERTY keyboard. Also, the phone’s display seems to have a 800 x 480 pixels resolution.

Miley Cyrus: The Next Julia Roberts?

Miley Cyrus sure has a lot to live up to.

First her Hannah Montana movie director, Peter Chelsom, compared Cyrus to Judy Garland, Shirley Temple and Barbra Streisand.

And now, Julie Anne Robinson, director of The Last Song, says Ms. Miley could be the next Pretty Woman…

"She's like Julia Roberts," Robinson recently told me. "I feel Miley can do anything—action, comedy, drama. She's got it all."

Robinson says she was turned onto the Roberts comparison after Cyrus auditioned for The Last Song. "Our director of photography, John Lindley, worked with Julia years ago and when Miley came in for the screen test, he said, 'This really reminds me of when Julia Roberts walked on set," Robinson said. (FYI: Lindley worked on Roberts' 1991 thriller, Sleeping With the Enemy).

c Keen to Lose Weight

ROTUND Oscar-nominee Gabourey Sidibe wants to lose weight..

According to Gabourey’s mom, Alice Tan Ridley, the Precious actress is hoping to shed her excess pounds.

“The truth is Gabourey would like to lose some weight but the reality is that she would not have gotten the role of Precious if she had not been heavy,” Alice told Radar Online.

Gerard Butler Praises Jennifer Aniston’s Legs!

GERARD Butler thinks Jennifer Aniston has the “best legs” in Hollywood.

The actor — who has denied repeated speculation he is dating his The Bounty Hunter costar – was full of praise for the actress at the film’s New York premiere Tuesday night (pics below) and thinks her pins are perfect.

“She’s vivacious,” he said. “I mean, she’s just so alive inside, and that really shows through.

“And Jen actually does have the best legs in Hollywood!”

The Scottish star believes the speculation surrounding the status of their relationship will never end, but hopes it won’t affect their future friendship.

“It will never be over,” he said. “If Jen remains my friend, which I hope she will, anytime we would ever hang out in any way will be described as us dating again.”

Jesse James Cheating on Sandra Bullock? Not So Fast

Sandra Bullock's Oscar buzz has officially been killed, thanks to a salacious report claiming her husband Jesse James cheated on her with ... wait for it ... a tattoo model named 'Bombshell.' Infidelity is all the rage when it comes to tabloids, but everything about this, from the woman making the claims to the timing of it all, just seems off. Our reasoning ... after the jump.

According to 'Bombshell' -- whose birth name is Michelle McGee -- she and James began a torrid affair while Bullock was away filming 'The Blind Side,' which she just won a Best Actress Oscar for. McGee tells In Touch Weekly that her fling with James lasted 11 weeks, five of which were sexual. Naturally, lurid detail about James' sexual endowment and prowess were included in her testimonial.

Before we go any further, we'll say this: We're not questioning In Touch Weekly's reporting, but the validity of Miss Bombshell's claims.

Sprint announces the Google Nexus One, might unveil the HTC Supersonic at CTIA

In a surprising (or not?) announcement today, Sprint said that Google would launch a version of the Nexus One Android 2.1 smartphone compatible with its 3G Mobile Broadband Network. Most probably, the CDMA / EV-DO Sprint-bound Nexus One will be similar to the one Verizon will get.

The announcement comes only one day after the Nexus One for AT&T and Rogers was launched.

Unfortunately, Sprint didn’t say when exactly its customers will be able to buy the Nexus One, and neither for what price – although it did say that these details will be unveiled “soon”.

Droid's Android 2.1 update going to 'a small number' of users tomorrow

Possibly confirming those leaks suggesting that the first volley of Droid updates to Android 2.1 would be limited to just a quarter million folks, Verizon just shot out a statement to let everyone know that the over-the-air push is "being deployed to a small number of Verizon Wireless test users tomorrow afternoon." Beyond that, no dates are given for the rest of us to get in on the action -- probably because Verizon and Motorola need to see how the first group manages before sending out the remainder -- so for the moment, just hope that you're one of these incredibly blessed "test users" and stay tuned.

Is social media better than sex?

Only a few years ago, I could shock people by divulging that I don't own a TV. Since Hulu and others let me get my show fix online, I now seem to be part of a growing minority who only have one kind of box at home.

But I still shock people. All I have to do is admit I'm not on Facebook. According to most people I talk to, at least, this is truly strange behavior.

So it's not surprising that so many people rely on social media, for both work and play, every day--a statistic highlighted in the latest Retrevo Gadgetology Report on social-media usage. What people are willing to interrupt for the sake of virtual connectivity, however, may give a few texting thumbs pause.

Jay Chou can’t save Pandamen but hopes for better luck with "Drifters"

The Jay Chou directed and starred drama hit a new low last week with an average rating of 0.32%. Despite a busy schedule, Jay will visit several primary schools this Friday to interact with youths as he has promised earlier. Unfortunately there is not much he can do about Pandamen at this point, but he was kind enough to lend his Batmobile to The Drifters for their album promotion.

President Chou’s new toy was handmade and shipped from the US. The prop car cannot be driven on the road as it doesn’t have a license plate. Member Darren of The Drifters only drove it for a short distance, “It’s a lot of pressure, because the car is so expensive, along with such high horsepower, (I) was really worried of hitting it. (I) didn’t dare to step on the gas too much.” Jay Chou lend his incredible car with good intentions, but it also presented an awkward situation for the newcomers -- Reporters at the event were clearly more interested in the Batmobile than The Drifters.

Shouldn't they be Foster's cans? Lady Gaga arrives in Australia with Diet Coke in her hair

Another day, yet another outrageous hairstyle for Lady Gaga.

As she arrived at Sydney airport today, the singer's hair was wrapped around Diet Coke cans.

But perhaps she should have made them Foster's - she is in Australia after all.

The extrovert dresser's outfit certainly matched her hair. She wore a sheer negligee which revealed her lacy underwear.

Teamed with fishnets and sunglasses, it certainly gave Australians a taste of things to come.

The 23-year-old is in the country as part of her Monster Ball world tour, and will perform 13 shows.

Siobhan Magnus Paints American Idol Black

Siobhan Magnus and Crystal Bowersox dominated ladies' night last week. Last night, on the first show of the American Idol finals, the two ladies were 1-2 again.

At least that's how we saw it, but we doubt we'll receive too many arguments. With the possible exception(s) of Big Mike and Aaron Kelly, no one came close to these two.

Heidi Klum Allure April 2010

Check out Heidi Klum’s fierce new photoshoot for Allure! The mother of four goes topless as she shares her skin, diet, and body secret with the style mag.

“I’m quite energetic, and I also have sweet children who don’t care that I just had another kid. They want to be into things and be loved and go in Ma’s bed when they get up early in the morning. So I’m always juggling the family and life with my husband.”

Heidi and hubby Seal have asked guests to dress as brides and grooms for the forthcoming renewal of their wedding vows.

Sprint “Make your iPhone 4G” promo pushes Overdrive [Video]

Now, far be it from us to suggest that Sprint are looking to trick would-be iPhone 4G seekers into watching their latest Overdrive promo, but calling your video “Make your iPhone 4G” and then criticising AT&T’s 3G network isn’t going to go down well in Dallas. The Overdrive is of course Sprint’s 3G/4G MiFi-style portable WiFi hotspot, capable – if you’re in one of the 25 areas with WiMAX coverage – of up to 6Mbps downlink speeds.

Of course, Sprint use their highest-possible speed for the video, and contrast it with the lowest “industry average” of 600Kbps you might see out of AT&T. We’re not blinkered cheerleaders for AT&T’s 3G network, by any stretch, but the video small print also says that the other “average” extreme for 3G is 1.7Mbps; regular users will probably get something in-between the two.

Yes, Windows Phone 7 Series can make a phone call

Sure, we've been pushing Microsoft hard for Windows Phone 7 Series details like copy and paste (no) and multitasking (no), but we just realized that we've never actually seen a 7 Series device... make a phone call. A little running around later and we've got two demo handsets calling each other. We're told that the little white arrow on the call panel will eventually bring up options like conference calling, speakerphone, and mute, but it's not working yet -- and one of the phones seems to think it's running on Cingular, so either time travel is an unannounced feature of the OS or Microsoft still has some work to do. Video after the break.

P.S. They're just demo SIMs, but we're sure the poor PR folks babysitting the devices would appreciate it if you didn't call the numbers, okay? Be nice.

SNSD ‘Run Devil Run’ MV released!

After the song reveal on 17th March, the MV to So Nyeo Shi Dae’s new song ‘Run Devil Run’ was been revealed on 18th March.

Love it or not?

J-Pop Group Arashi Releases New Single in Korea Today

Japanese pop group Arashi will be releasing their new single "Troublemaker" in Korea today, according to agency SM Entertainment on Wednesday.

SM said in a press release that "Troublemaker" will be released in Korea in two versions; a regular CD and a limited edition composed of a CD and DVD.

The DVD will contain the music video for "Troublemaker" as well as making-the-video footage while the CD will feature an additional track titled "One More Step."

"Troublemaker", the group's latest single released in Japan earlier this month, sold over 540,000 copies in its first week to top Oricon's weekly single chart.

The pop track was also featured in popular Japanese television series, "Tokujo Kobachi!!", which starred one of the group's member Sakurai Sho.

HTML5 and Flash can work together insists Adobe evangelist [Video]

Flash and HTML5 are hot topics in the online world right now. We’ve heard plenty about how more smartphones will get Flash, how performance might not be what users expect and how mainstream sites are looking to alternatives, and of course there’s Apple’s ongoing reluctance to add Flash functionality to their mobile devices. Meanwhile HTML5 is getting plenty of positive press, and most recently Microsoft have announced full support for the technology in IE9. Is there room for both to live together in harmony, however? ”Adobe platform evangelist” Serge Jespers reckons so, and he’s thrown together the code to demonstrate it.

In Jespers’ example, HTML5 is used to pull out geolocation data that can then be fed to a Flash application, even though only Adobe AIR has access to geolocation APIs. This takes advantage of HTML5’s geolocation API, that can use not only true-GPS but WiFi and cellular base-station triangulation depending on what the device itself has access to.

New MacBook Pro, Air and Mac Pro pricing potentially leaked by Apple ads and online store (updated)

Could this be another example of online advertising presaging the onset of a hardware upgrade from Cupertino? Apple's ads on Australian tech pub PC Authority have been spotted displaying some rather peculiar price tags for its flagship mobile and desktop computers. Whereas Cupertino's Aussie online store lists the most affordable versions of the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and Mac Pro at A$1,599, A$1,999 and A$3,599, respectively, the above, official-looking ads would seem to disagree. Clicking on them still leads to the currently priced (and specced) machines, but looking at them suggests that -- in the absence of some major conspiracy or a splendidly random price hike -- we're getting an early peek at the pricing of the newly updated models of each of those series. The MacBook Air has jumped by A$400 so that what used to be its costliest base price is now its lowest, while the MBP has suffered a A$300 bump in cost of entry. Then again, considering the expectation that the mobile computers will get Core i7 CPUs while the Mac Pro will get all dressed up with Core i7-980X regalia, this development is perhaps not all that surprising. The major thing to take away here is that the long-awaited upgrades might finally be arriving. We're putting our piggy banks on alert, just in case.

Cheryl Cole Courted For “The X Factor” America

Cheryl Cole could be heading Stateside to judge The X Factor. The Girls Aloud beauty is well on her way to signing a $2.2million deal with the US version of Simon Cowell’s popular UK talent show, according to new reports out of Britain.

She’s been laying low since announcing the bust-up of her marriage to soccer star Ashley Cole, but Cowell has apparently negotiated a deal for Cheryl with FOX executives, insisting that the 26-year-old singer is his “first choice” for the coveted judging role.

Firefox 3.0 reaching end of the line

A few months later than expected, Mozilla is calling it quits for version 3.0 of its Firefox browser.

"There will be no more updates for Firefox 3.0.x," Mozilla said Tuesday in a meeting planning document. The last update will be Firefox 3.0.19, due March 30, according to the Mozilla Wiki page. Mozilla started building the new version after some last-minute security fixes over the weekend.

Mozilla had planned to discontinue support for Firefox 3.0 in January, but the browser got a lifespan extension after Firefox 3.6 arrived later than planned.

HTC Desire to have a silver version, too

Announced during MWC 2010 only in a black version, the HTC Desire actually has a silver version as well.

The silver HTC Desire has recently appeared over at the XDA forums, and it obviously looks good.

Previously known as HTC Bravo, the Desire has features similar to the ones of the Google Nexus One: 3.7 inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, GPS, HSDPA, 1GHz Snapdragon processor and 5MP autofocus camera with flash.

WiMAX-enabled HTC Supersonic rumored to debut on Sprint at CTIA

There's hardly anything here that we didn't already know, but an unveiling date of "next week" sure catches our eye. A new report over at The Wall Street Journal confirms earlier details that were fed to us over Sprint's first-ever WiMAX smartphone, and now we're learning that the HTC Supersonic will be officially revealed to the world at CTIA next week. We've heard before that the carrier anticipates selling a 4G phone "this summer," but you can bet we'll be digging for a hard ship date and price tag when we hit the scene in Las Vegas in just five short days.
