Is Lady Gaga planning her big-screen debut?From Madonna’s Desperately Seeking Susan to Whitney Houston in The Preacher’s Wife, the story of pop stars stinking up the big screen is almost as old as the cinema itself.
Is the world’s biggest singing sensation ready to add the title “Screen Star” to her already illustrious resume?
After shattering records last week with 13 MTV Video Music Awards nominations, Lady Gaga has set her sights on bigger screens with a Gaga-centric feature film, British tabloid News of the World (We know, we know.) reported Sunday.
Hollywood tattles tell the tab that the “Bad Romance” star is planning to make a splash at the box office in a film epic in the vein of Michael Jackson’s 1988 long-form music movie Moonwalker and the 2006 film adaptation of Dreamgirls, which won singer Jennifer Hudson an Oscar. In fact, lensman Bryan Singer — the director behind The Usual Suspects — is reportedly being eyed as a director for the as-yet-untitled big-budget blockbuster.
“Gaga is a real creative genius and is thinking about new possibilities all the time,” a spy squeals. “She’s very excited about a movie, but she wants to do it right. She wants to work with the best people in the business.”
