21st Golden Melody Awards nominations list released, A-Mei takes crown with 10 nominations

The Government Information Office announced the nomination list for the 21st Golden Melody Awards this afternoon. In particular, heavenly queen A-Mei Chang received 10 nominations for her album "A-mit", battling for the title of Best Mandarin Female Singer with Tanya Chua and Karen Mok among others. The nominations for Best Mandarin Male Singer include David Tao, Eason Chan and Jam Hsiao. Furthermore, this time the "Lifetime Contribution Award" has been given to "Taiwan's King of Song" Ang It-Hong who passed away due to illness recently.The 21st Golden Melody awards categories this time include 125 labels, 359 albums, 10464 works. After an initial round of judging by 71 judges, a total of 124 works were nominated, including A-mei's album "A-mit" which received 10 nominations, the most outstanding results.
As to the "Best Mandarin Female Singer" category which so much attention is paid to, nominees include Tanya Chua, Karen Mok, A-Mei, Deserts Chang, Tiger Huang and Cheer Chen. The "Best Mandarin Male Singer Award" will be pursued by JJ Lin, David Tao, Eason Chan, Khalil Fong and Jam Hsiao.
Furthermore, this time for the "Lifetime Contribution Award", all the judges agreed that it should be given to deceased "Taiwan's King of Song" Mr Ang It-Hong. The judges believe that in his lifetime, Ang It-Hong's devotion and achievements in Taiwanese folksongs, performing and albums was extraordinary, the developmentof Taiwanese folksongs especially, shows that he deserves this special award.
Besides this, a new category "Best Album Packaging" has been added, in which 248 participated and 8 albums were nominated. The nominees are all excellent representatives for the world of design, all their works are very creative and unique. The award ceremony will be held at Taipei Arena on June 26 7 pm and will be broadcasted live on CTV.
