Just in time for the New Year Disney has confirmed that they have finally completed the acquisition of Marvel Entertainment to the tune of $4.24 Billion Dollars. With the deal finally done Disney now owns the rights to nearly 5,000 Marvel Characters including Spider Man and Iron Man.
The acquisition was approved as of Thursday by the Marvel shareholders including Marvel’s Chief Executive Isaac Perlmutter, who will oversee the Marvel business and report to Disney’s CEO Robert Iger.
Disney’s purchase of Marvel’s shares is it’s largest purchase since buying Pixar Animation Studios for 7.4 billion in 2006. Disney purchased Marvel for 4.24 billion.
We can’t wait to hear more about what Disney plans to do with these new characters they own in the future.
