Although LG and other sources have apparently confirmed that Windows Mobile 7 would be released by the end of 2010, it looks like this may not happen.
Bright Side Of News has reportedly spoke with reps from Microsoft, HTC, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Lenovo, Texas Instruments, Nokia and others, which all said the same thing: Windows Mobile 7’s release is postponed to 2011. I’m not sure what Nokia has to do with WM7, but anyway…
Because of this delay, “dedicated Windows Mobile 7 cellphones and smartbooks are now being shifted to Android”. So it looks like manufacturers have already prepared the hardware for Windows Mobile 7 and they want to sell it as soon as possible, so they’re forced to look for other Operating Systems – and since Android is both free and quite popular lately, it’s a logical choice.
Of course, the alleged WM7 delay might be just bogus, so we’d better wait for something official about this to come from Microsoft.
