Press Start: 'Final Fantasy' on iPhone; more 'God of War III' footage
Classic role-playing games Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II have made their way to the iPhone and iPod Touch. Publisher Square Enix announced both games are now available in Apple's App Store for $8.99. Both titles -- which were originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System in the late-1980s -- include specially designed controls tailored to the iPhone and iPod Touch, as well as additional dungeons not featured in the original release.
- GameTrailers has posted some pretty astonishing video of Sony's big hack-and-slash action game God of War III, slated for release March 16. The footage features a handful of Kratos' new tricks, including boots from Hermes that allow him to perform quick dashes. Viewers will also get a peek at a boss battle featuring Hades and another encounter with the massive Leviathan.
- Speaking of God of War III, a demo for the game highlights this week's PlayStation Store releases. Also available for PS3 is a demo for Darksiders and a multiplayer map pack for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Debuting on PlayStation Portable is echoshift, a puzzle game from the creators of 2008's echochrome.
- Finally, Tomb Raider heroine Lara Croft has been bestowed with a pretty high honor. The BBC reports Derby, England will name a newly constructed road Lara Croft Way. More than 27,000 voted on what to call the road, with an overwhelming 89% of people selecting the Tomb Raider inspired name. Derby is also home to the studio where the franchise was created.
