Keira Knightley confirms she will not be appearing in fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean film
Kiera Knightley has quit the Pirates Of The Caribbean film series.
Miss Knightley 24, told the Mail today she had decided not to to appear in the forthcoming film because of the amount of time each one takes to make.
She said: ‘I had an amazing time on it. It was an extraordinary experience but you know it was three years of my life, pretty much, three and a half years, and I think that's quite a lot.
‘Now I am looking forward to new adventures. I'm looking forward to doing other things.’
Filming is due to start later this year on the series’ fourth instalment, called Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
Miss Knightly has played Elizabeth Swann in the first three Pirates epics.
Her role in the movies catapulted her to Hollywood stardom.
The actress, who dates fellow actor Rupert Friend, was speaking at a lunch for the Laurence Olivier Award nominees.
She has been shortlisted for Best Actress, for her role as Jennifer in Molière's The Misanthrope.
The star made her West End debut in the play at the Comedy Theatre in London in December.
And today, she told how she hopes it will lead to further theatre parts.
She said: ‘If I got the opportunity to do it again I definitely would. To be nominated has been completely extraordinary and totally unexpected.’
Critics have praised Miss Knightley for her subtle portrayal of the character, but speaking yesterday she said she does not read the critics.
She said: ‘I still haven't read anything from the critics, but by the fact that I'm here, I'm assuming it went OK.’
‘I don't do it at all for anything. I think you have got to be very careful where you take your criticism from. It can completely throw you.
‘It has to be someone that you know and you can trust, because then that's helpful.
'I have a core group of people who I will absolutely listen to 100 per cent when they say something negative or positive."
She continued: ‘My father is absolutely extraordinary. I think he's probably more brutal than any critic ever would be so I tend to go with him.’
