Cheap Windows Phone 7 handset to be launched in India, other developing markets

Microsoft, which recently announced the Kin One and Kin Two for Verizon and Vodafone, will launch a low-cost Windows Phone 7 handset for developing markets, including India.

At least that’s what Sudeep Bharati from Microsoft India told The Economic Times.

Reportedly, the cheap Windows Phone 7 device will be released in 2011 (hence after the first batch of WP7 devices is launched), having a “smaller screen” and “a different chassis than version 1”.

Sudeep Bharati also mentioned that Microsoft is “in talks with OEMs to gain their feedback on a new chassis” that should allow the company to put Windows Phone 7 on the promised low-cost device.

Until the cheap WP7 phone gets to be released in India, though, you can check out the Windows Mobile 6.5.3-based Garmin-Asus M10, which is already available in the country.
