Acer Liquid Stream with Android 2.1 and AMOLED display officially announced (video)

Acer has just announced its newest Android smartphone: the Acer Stream, initially showcased by Google as Acer Liquid Stream.

The Liquid name was ditched for some reason, so the handset is officially know as Acer Stream from now on.

The Stream currently runs Android 2.1, but, like most high-end Android smartphones announced this year, it will probably get Android 2.2 Froyo when this comes out.

Acer presents the Stream as being “the utmost expression of technology, design, performance and entertainment.” The smartphone is 11.2 mm thick, is made out of “highly resistant materials” and looks quite good.

Its features include:
  • 3.7 inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display
  • Acer Touch 3D UI
  • Accelerometer
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • UPnP
  • GPS
  • Social networking integration (Facebook, Twitter)
  • Nemo multimedia player
  • Dolby Mobile sound
  • Acer UrFooz “to create your virtual look-a-like”
  • Bluetooth
  • HDMI port
  • 5MP camera with HD (720p) video recording
  • 1GHz Snapdragon processor
  • 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM
  • 2GB internal memory
  • 8GB memory card included (supports card sup to 32GB)

Batista70phone has a video preview of the Acer Stream (in Italian):

Acer didn’t say when we should expect to see the Stream in stores. The smartphone’s price was also not unveiled.
