Charice Is Coming To “Glee”

Be still, Gleeks! Filipina singing sensation Charice Pempengco is headed to the halls of McKinley High after all.


Just weeks after shooting down reports that the 4-foot-9 pop powerhouse would be join the cast of Glee, reps for Charice confirmed Monday that the singing star dubbed the “next Celine Dion” has landed a recurring role on the forthcoming second season of the FOX musical-comedy.

Pempengco gained worldwide recognition after posted videos of her performances on YouTube received millions of hits making the petite star an internet phenomenon.


Charice will play a foreign exchange student “who will catch the eye of at least one Glee boy (shades of S.E. in American Pie), and the stank eye of one Ms. Rachel Berry,” loose-lipped tipsters yapped to E! Gossip Gal Kristin Dos Santos Monday.

“It’s official. I’m on Glee (next season) but story behind it. When d rumor came out, it wasn’t true. But then after that; I tried to audition. And i made it!!! Let’s Party!!!!” an ecstatic Charice Tweeted in a message to fans this afternoon.

An international pop phenomenon, Charice celebrated her 18th birthday last month by releasing her self-titled debut album in the United States. Clips demonstrating Charice’s vocal prowess attract millions of views on YouTube, and the singer has already performed with her idols Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli.

Season 2 of Glee debuts this fall on FOX.
