Shocked parents brand Lady Gaga's bloody stage show as 'sickening' in wake of Cumbria slaughter
She's not exactly known for her squeaky-clean image and has been no stranger to controversy during her rise to fame.
But has Lady Gaga possibly taken things too far this time?
The singer was slammed by horrified fans after she she pretended to be murdered and eaten on stage by a crazed psycho killer, just hours after the horrific shooting spree across Cumbria.
Thousands of fans and parents who had taken their children to the concert at the MEN Arena in Manchester looked on in horror as the 24-year old singer, dressed in a skimpy leather basque, was ambushed from by a gothic man dressed in black, who then appeared to bite into her neck and fake blood spurted down her chest.
The scene on stage came as Cumbrians were still coming to terms with the mass slaughter perpetrated by cab driver Derrick Bird, 52, who killed 12 in a gun rampage before turning the gun on himself.
And the horror of the three prostitute killings in nearby Bradford was still fresh in the minds of many - 'Crossbow Cannibal' suspect Stephen Griffiths, 40, has been charged.
One mum who took her 14-year old daughter to the show said: 'I was absolutely sickened at what I saw. We know Lady Gaga is not exactly mainstream performance for all the family but she really crossed the line this time.
'The scene may have been part of her show but it could have been toned down give the violent events of Bradford and Cumbria.
'It was extremely tasteless to see her pretend to be attacked in such a gory way - especially in front of young children.
'What happened in Bradford is very fresh in people's minds and given all the violence which happened in Cumbria just hours earlier, pop stars should be more a lot more sensitive and not be featuring scenes of murder in their shows.
'Several of us were aghast when Lady Gaga appeared to be covered in blood. There were lot of the kids there who were sickened too. Many had their hands over their mouths in shock.'
Gaga - real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta - shocked the fans during the latest gig in her Monster Ball world tour. She was also engulfed by dancers playing crazed killers and appeared to lay dying on stage covered in blood.
Lynn Costello of Mothers Against Violence said: 'I wouldn't let any child of mine go to see Lady Gaga - I think she's tasteless anyway and this scene appears to back what I believe.
'We're always saying, people who are icons to young people need to be aware of their behavior and they need to think about how their behavior influences young people. "Would she have sold less tickets without that scene in her show?
'They're role models, they need to take responsibility. It's tasteless.
'Murder is disturbing image to impose on young people. When young stars mention they've got a collection of knives and enjoy flicking their knives they're endorsing it. They're not thinking about what they're portraying to their fans. It's all for shock value.
'Something like this is tasteless at any time but so soon after what happened in Bradford and Cumbria it also shows a total lack of sensitivity to the families of the victims. These people seem more concerned with selling tickets.'
It's a routine that Gaga has performed on numerous occasions during the tour.
She also performed a fake blood-splattered routine at last year's MTV Video Music Awards when she opened her act with a chandelier crashing down on her before she launched into two of her top hits.

But then she pretended to stagger acros the stage, fake blood dripping from her ribcage, before she dabbed at it, wiped it on her face and collapsed into a heap while a dancer wailed in agony and gently laid her down center stage.
Gaga plays Manchester again tonight before finishing the UK leg of her tour in Sheffield tomorrow.
She then transfers to America before returning to Europe in October, including Belfast and Ireland, before heading back to the States and continuing until April 2011.
