Isabella Kou’s husband arrested on allegations of rape
Former lawyer and socialite Patrick Leung – the husband of former Miss Hong Kong Isabella Kou – was arrested last week on allegations of sexual harassment and rape. A young female model called the police on June 27th claiming that she was raped in the Fevar Bar owned by Patrick Leung, which is located in Central. On June 28th, Patrick Leung was arrested at his estate and brought back to the police station for questioning. He was subsequently released on bail but is required to return to the police station for further investigation.
Yesterday, Patrick Leung returned to Hong Kong from a business trip in Chengdu. Upon arriving at the airport, Patrick was immediately surrounded by reporters and hounded with questions about his alleged involvement in the case: How well did you know the alleged victim? Are the accusations true? Were you asked to report back to the police station this week? Without responding to any of the reporters’ questions, Patrick only answered “Nothing to say”. Later on, he also said that right now is not the appropriate time to answer any questions, since it would be hard to say anything with so many reporters surrounding him. As he was walking to the parking lot, he also pushed aside several microphones and looked a bit agitated. Right before getting into his car, a reporter asked him why his wife Isabella did not come pick him up from the airport. Patrick did not respond, but instead muttered something about the weather under his breath. After leaving the airport, he returned to his estate in Hong Kong’s Midlevels area.
Upon leaving their Midlevels mansion to attend a class in Causeway Bay yesterday, Isabella Kou was also hounded by reporters. When asked about the allegations against her husband, Isabella kept a smile on her face and replied that she is rushing to get to class. She would only say that husband returned to Hong Kong this afternoon and she has already been in touch with him. She did not respond to any further questions from reporters, however she did leave a few messages on her Weibo that afternoon. During a break from class, Isabella uploaded a picture of herself and also left a few messages thanking the friends who have given her support and encouragement the past few days. She also claimed that the situation did not happen the way the Media reported and that the truth will be revealed very soon. Later on, she left another message on her Weibo: “Today, my head is spinning and my mind is in a whirl – it is difficult for me to concentrate on my class.”
Isabella’s daughter Lydia Tong [TN: Bonsai cat fiasco several months ago] also left a few messages on her Weibo voicing support for her step-father: “If you want to know who is your true friend, then sink your own ship and see who jumps into the water first, leaving you behind – that person is not your true friend.” In addition, she also wrote: “A model claims that my Dad tried to place his hand on her shoulder and hug her, however since I did not hear it with my own ears, I do not believe it. Of course, there is a possibility that the person is just doing it for publicity, however if it is true, I hope that you stop saying hurtful things toward us.”
