Jay Chou tries out hosting with the Taiwanese version of SMAP x SMAP
Looks like Jay Chou wasn’t kidding when he said he wanted to try out hosting. It’s been confirmed that he will host a new show for Cti to be aired during primetime on Saturdays. The 90-minute program will begin taping in September, and it is said to be somewhat like popular Japanese show “SMAP x SMAP”. He will cohost with his friend/dancer Ice Cream (雪糕), Xiao Mai (小麥), stylist Du Guo Zhang (杜國璋) and actress Eri Otoguro (乙黑繪理), who previously appeared in a music video for The Drifters.
Jay Chou is rumored to be paid NT$500,000 for each hour of hosting, which doubles the salary of his former mentor Jacky Wu. JVR Music denied the claim saying he won't take a single penny because hosting is not part of his regular activities. Since he has very high expectations for the show, they will spend most of its budget on the production.
Jay Chou's first (official) hosting gig will include music and dance performances, skits and interviews with guests that he will personally invite. In addition to tops stars like Jody Chiang and A-Mei Chang, his ex Jolin Tsai is also rumored to be a possible guest.
