Jolin Tsai upset about diva rumours
Mando-pop princess Jolin Tsai has admitted Sunday that she was very upset about the ceaseless rumours that have surrounded her of late, in a series of posts on her micro-blogging account, reported Chinese media.
After recently being accused of trying to generate publicity for her new album "Agent J" by revealing details of her split from superstar ex-boyfriend Jay Chou, the singer was accused of diva-like behaviour at the recording of a Chinese variety show in Shanghai last week.
"Honestly speaking, having been pricked (by the negative reports) for so long, claiming that I am unscathed would be a lie. I don't even know where the strength to carry on, to laugh at all the rumours, comes from.
"Just like the way you (rumour mongers) are trying to test the limits before I break down, I am also testing just how much I can take," Tsai, 29, wrote in a post.
The news came to light after the variety show's host Cao Ke Fan recently complained on his micro blog account that Tsai's assistant had been very rude during the show and set three conditions before Tsai was allowed to perform.
The conditions were that Chou's songs were not to be featured, that there would be no questions about Tsai's relationship with Chou and that she had the stage to herself when she performed.
Cao pointed out that veteran artistes like Gao Ling Feng and Lily Tien were in attendance and said it was unreasonable for Tsai's assistant to demand that Tsai had the stage to herself in a variety show.
He added that Tsai's assistant even wanted to stop Gao from singing as he was performing one of Chou's songs and curtly told the veterans to move backstage to make way for Tsai during one segment.
"This is a variety show, not the ascension of a queen, Ms Jolin Tsai," wrote Cao.
Tsai's record label Warner Music had explained that the incident "was a misunderstanding", while Cao himself later said he had nothing against Tsai and was just unhappy with her assistant's actions.
However, his words had the unintended effect of portraying Tsai as an insensitive diva in the eyes of some Chinese netizens.
Meanwhile, Tsai's admission brought on an outpouring of encouragement from her celebrity pals Jam Hsiao, Selena Jen of female group S.H.E and Show Luo on her micro blogging account.
Luo, a superstar in his own right, cheekily said that he was "the best channel for you (Jolin) to vent your frustrations" and that he would allow Tsai to hit him if she wanted to, "just not in the face".
Jen, on the other hand, suggested a relaxing game of mahjong and offered to create opportunities for her to win in order to cheer her up.
