Raymond Lam breaks the "good person" image for new drama "Ad Mania"
Yesterday afternoon, modern drama Ad Mania (廣告風雲) an inspirational drama about the life of advertisers in the workplace held a press conference hosted by COSTA Cruise in Huangpu River. The drama is directed by Hong Kong director Yip Chiu Yi and stars TVB popular Siu Sang Raymond Lam, Joe Ma, Tang Yan and Ran Chen. Recently, the "flying in space" Raymond has been appearing in Shanghai very often for work purposes, he frankly said that this time in Ad Mania, he'll be turning his on-screen 'good person' image into a 'half good, half evil', a whole new role.
Filming will split into three seasons with a total of 80 episodes. Hong Kong golden director (Yip Chiu Yi) has made many classic films and series, like Looking Back In Anger and The Greed of Man. This time Director Yip will personally do the work, compared to other simple workplace idol dramas, Ad Mania is a rare drama that mirrors the reality of the selling and advertising market.
As TVB's popular Siu Sang, Raymond has in fact been long promoted for TVB's new generation "First Brother". But, Raymond expressed: "TVB has never had the so-called first or second brother. We are a big family." Recently, Raymond's Growing Through Life broadcast in both Mainland and Hong Kong, but the TV ratings were not too satisfying. Initially hoping to take the TVB's TV King title, looks like Raymond's been affected by the series. Raymond expressed: "The theme of this drama is more serious and heavy. Not everyone is interested in that particular subject matter, but this cannot be controlled by the artists. I am just doing my best on my own part. Also not all series that artists film are going to be trendy or have good response. It is more important to learn something new and be able to develop yourself through acting."
As to accepting this drama Ad Mania, Raymond had only looked at the story outline, he frankly said that his role this time is very different from before. His "good person" image will change into "half good, half evil", he said: "My character is very career-minded, he has strong principles, but sometimes in order to reach his goal, he will use some tactics, a little selfish, is very realistic. A very realistic role." Raymond also reveals that actually he really hopes to portray someone who is so evil that people will clinch their teeth, even someone that is a slight psychopath. But unfortunately, until now no one has asked him to portray this type of role.
