Yvonne Strahovski plays Sarah Walker, Chuck's love interest in the NBC hit-series 'Chuck.' The 28-year-old Aussie bombshell talked to PopEater about what's new this season, shooting with Bobby D, and about one of our editors who harbors a deep seated crush on her.
What can we expect this season?
We have a lot more guest stars than we've ever had. We have Linda Hamilton as Chuck's mother. We're sort of more into the relationship between Chuck and Sarah now, because they're an item and they're dating. Sarah is adjusting to having a boyfriend, and it's about the mission to find Chuck's mother.
Didn't you guys almost get canceled?
The fans really rallied and their loyalty amazed us.
Did you notice a difference in the budget? Like less bagels at craft services?
No, but we noticed it with the schedule. We were originally shooting an episode in eight days and now we shoot them in seven days. The days are really long, that's the biggest battle for me everyday, the hours. Most anyone who does a one hour show will tell you that. It really is tough, I can't deny it. It's like anywhere from 12 to 18 hour days. We sometimes see the sunrise.
Your parents are Polish. Did you grow up with pierogis?
Of course, pierogi, golabki, the whole bit. I speak fluent Polish even though I was born in Australia.
Is 'Chuck' on in Poland?
It is actually.
You must be like a rock star there.
I wouldn't say a rock star. It's getting there. It seems like it's on in most countries now.
What do you think of Oprah's trip to Australia?
I didn't even know Oprah was doing a trip to Australia.
You just shot a movie in Australia with Robert De Niro. Were you intimidated by him?
I wasn't. I was really excited, obviously, as anyone would be. I was sort of expecting to be nervous on the first day, but I was more excited. After working with him, he's an actor like we all are. He was really sweet and great to work with.
You've got a Peter Allen accent going on.
What do you mean?
It's half Australian, half American.
I know. It's the result of speaking American every day. I don't really notice it until I go back home and get around my friends and realize how goofy I sound. I lose it within a matter of a week or so.
My editor has a very big crush on you.
Aww, you have to say hi for me.
Do you get lots of boys telling you they have crushes on you?
I do. I get very sweet fan letters and messages.
Ever been invited to any proms?
No, actually.
Would you ever do that?
[Laughs] Probably not.
