While announcing the new Samsung Continuum for Verizon, Samsung has also unveiled that it sold more than 3 million Galaxy S handsets in the US – where all four major mobile carriers are offering different versions of the device.The news comes one month after the South Korean company announced it has shipped 2 million Galaxy S units Stateside.
Paul Golden, Chief Marketing Officer at Samsung Mobile USA, declared to Reuters that “we’re in a situation where we wish we had more supply,” further saying that the main problem is producing Super AMOLED displays (which are included in all Galaxy S models).
Samsung has shipped more than 7 million Galaxy S smartphones globally until now, and sales will most probably pass the planned 10 million mark pretty soon. Let’s hope that “pretty soon” is also when Samsung will manage to push Android 2.2 Froyo on its Galaxy S handsets in the US, because all of them (including the new Continuum) run Android 2.1 at the moment.
