Katy Perry shoots in to VH1's Salute the Troops show as she descends onto stage in giant parachute
Katy Perry certainly knows how to make an entrance. The pop diva descended onto the stage at Vh1's Salute the Troops in a huge parachute, emblazoned with the American flag. She cut a sexy figure in a pair of blue sparkly hotpants teamed with a Stars and Stripes plunging top and knee-high white boots.
It was one of four racy outfits worn by the 26-year-old singer throughout the night, which was put on to honour the work of the America's military. In typically attention-grabbing fashion, Perry also wore an eye-catching gold dress, complete with matching studded peep-toe heels and a sailor hat and later slipped into a strapless red number split to the thigh.
And another outfit change was in order when she performed with the bootylicious Nicki Minaj, with Katy slipping into a camouflage PVC skirt and top.
Her series of racy outfits come after Katy admitted she asked VH1 to downsize her chest in the posters advertising the show, tweeting: 'I was the one who asked VH1 to tone down my digitalised image on the poster, particularly the size of my chest.'
Earlier Katy posted a picture on her Twitter showing herself dressed down and completely covered up in a WWII-era army uniform.
She posted the picture of herself posing with comedian Kathy Griffin along with the caption: 'Speaking of firecrotches... I love her. QUEEN OF COMEDY.'
But the uniforms didin't stay on for long.
Once they got on stage Griffin, who has just celebrated her 50th birthday, was even more risqué than Katy.
She stripped off to a camouflage bikini and belt made of bullets, which she unselfconsciously teamed with a pair of high heeled PVC boots.
And pushing the boundaries even further, Griffin then embraced a moustached male dancer on stage.
Also at the event was Snooki and The Situation of Jersey Shore fame, who joined Griffin onstage.
The television event, to be broadcast in the U.S. on December 5, will feature female acts performing at a Marine Corps Air Station in San Diego and at an undisclosed military base in the Middle East.
Nicki Minaj and Keri Hilson also performed alongside Katy at the California show.
Commenting on the event, USO President Sloan Gibson said: 'The USO is thrilled to be partnering with VH1 and honored to be a part of delivering such an uplifting event to our nation’s troops.
'The holidays are especially tough for our men and women in uniform and their families, and having the opportunity to touch so many troops stationed around the world at a time of year that matters most lets them know that America still cares about their welfare.
'There is no better time to celebrate our armed forces and support their efforts than now.'
