Jacky learns to use the internet from his daughter so he can promote his songs on-line
Yesterday, Jacky Cheung attended a charity cookie selling event as the ambassador for the Helping Hand organization. During the event, he indicated that recently, his focus has been on promoting his new album. As for the recent ‘shakeups’ at ATV that have even resulted in a legal battle, Jacky says that he is aware of the situation, but feels that since it is an internal matter at ATV, he does not have the right to comment on it and also that there is nothing to worry about. (Are you worried that in addition to not being able to ‘appear’ on TVB, now you won’t be able to go on ATV either?) Jacky replied: “If there are problems at ATV and I am not able to go on anymore, I can always go on i-cable or other radio stations, so I’m not worried!” Asked whether he would consider arranging his own album-promoting events instead of relying on the various TV and radio stations, Jacky was in agreement and confirmed that he will be holding a ‘mini-concert’ in the near future. With regard to artists nowadays utilizing the internet to interact with their fans, Jacky said: “My knowledge of computers is very poor, however I do believe that soon I will probably need to rely on the internet to promote my songs, so I will need to ask my daughter to help me enhance my computer and internet knowledge.”
Regarding recent news about popular karaoke company Neway buying out California Red and its possible negative effect on the Big 4 record companies (which all have ‘so-so’ relationships with Neway), Jacky commented: “I haven’t heard about it…even if there was a buyout, I’m pretty sure it was a business move. In general, the relationship between record companies and karaoke companies is usually a mutually beneficial one, so they probably won’t stop doing business with each other just because they don’t get along….plus I haven’t heard about [Big 4] and [Neway] having a bad relationship.”
In addition, there were rumors that Kay Tse had secretly committed to being a guest performer on ATV’s <<Asia Million Star 2>>, however after the news leaked to the media, she reneged last minute, citing ‘illness’. When asked about this, Jacky replied that he believes Kay is truly sick and can’t sing, so that’s probably why she declined.
