Paula Abdul Turned Down $2 Million Deal To Co-Host “Dancing With The Stars”

Paula Abdul waltzed away from a $2 million offer to replace Samantha Harris as co-host of the upcoming 10th season of Dancing With The Stars. Despite the sweet deal, ABC producers failed to get the ex-Idol judge to sign on the dotted line, according to a report featured in the March 15 issue of The National Enquirer.

“The offer was flattering, but in the end she passed. Frankly, Paula doesn’t need the money and she didn’t want to leap into another reality TV contest right away.”

Word is Paula was offered $1 million to appear as a contestant on this season’s show, but when Samantha quit the show to continue her work as a correspondent with Entertainment Tonight, the network doubled the offer.

A tipster tells The Enquirer: “They offered to redecorate her dressing room, threw in a $500,000 wardrobe budget, and agreed to let Paula wear more than designer dress per show. They also tried to sweeten the deal by allowing Paula to develop her own sitcom and do The X Factor with Simon Cowell when he starts the show in 2011.”

Abdul, a former Laker Girl, is hoping to get back to her cheerleading roots, says a snitch, possibly with a live action show on the Las Vegas strip. But the failed Dancing deal doesn’t mean Paula won’t team up with ABC at some point in the future: “Paula didn’t burn any bridges,” says the source.

We hear former DWTS contestant Brooke Burke will be revealed as the new co-host of Dancing With The Stars during ABC’s Good Morning America on Monday.
