While Mozilla canceled its Windows Phone 7-related plans, Opera has officially submitted Opera Mini for iPhone to the Apple App Store, and is now obviously waiting for the Cupertino giant to approve it.
Of course, no one knows if Apple will approve Opera Mini or not (well, save for Steve Jobs himself), but Opera wants to make us understand one thing: its browser is much faster than iPhone’s native Safari browser.
In the video below, Opera tested Opera Mini and Safari at the same time on two iPhone 3GS smartphones – with no 3G and no Wi-Fi enabled, thus relying only on 2G (EDGE). The result: while Safari loaded only one page, Opera Mini for iPhone loaded no less than 5 pages.
After seeing this video, I’m sure many iPhone users will want to have Opera Mini on their smartphones. Opera posted a countup timer on its official website so everyone can see how much it will take Apple to approve its browser (if ever).
