Her short skintight dress might be the perfect outfit for a night dancing in a sweaty nightclub.
But amongst the high-fashion labels and flagship stores of LA's prestigious Rodeo Drive, Britney Spears's revealing outfit looked out of place.
The 28-year-old didn't seem bothered, with a large grin on her face as she shopped in the designer boutiques.
Britney teamed the dress with geek chic dark rimmed glasses and a pair of white wedge sandals.
Rodeo Drive featured in the film Pretty Woman, when Julia Roberts was turned away for being inappropriately dressed by a pair of snooty shop assistants.
But with her fame and multi-million pound fortune, there was little danger of Britney receiving an unwelcome reception.
The singer has frequently spotted on shopping trips in recent months.
But while Britney's Circus world tour helped her make more than £35million from June 2008 to June 2009, she does not control her own finances.
Instead her father Jamie keeps a tight rein on her spending.
He took control of Britney's personal, financial and medical affairs in January 2008 after her very public breakdown.
This guardianship was extended in December and lawyers still expect it to last somewhere between six months and a year.
She is given a $500 weekly allowance from her fortune, and has to provide receipts showing her purchases.
