More than 500,000 iPhones sold in Korea in four months

Launched in South Korea on November 28 2009, Apple’s iPhone 3GS has been sold in more than 500,000 units until now across the country – which is exactly what KT (the only Korean mobile carrier that sells the iPhone) has planned. According to the carrier, about 4,000 iPhones are being sold each day.
Apparently, South Korea is the seventh country where iPhone sales passed the half million mark.
Samsung Omnia2, one of the iPhone’s main rivals in Korea, was sold in 600,000 unit until March 30.
Interestingly, KT says that “the average monthly amount of wireless data used by iPhone subscribers is 44 times more” than the average monthly data used by its subscribers who own other handsets.
Moreover, the iPhone has obviously created a new mobile content market in Korea, estimated at about 470 million won (more than $400,000). And let’s not forget the fact that the iPhone has also boosted sausage sales in the country.
