HTC Desire coming to U.S. Cellular?
While Verizon’s busy with the HTC Incredible, other US carriers might get the HTC Desire – which is, as you probably already know, another high-end Android 2.1 smartphone from HTC.
We’ve already heard that the HTC Desire is headed to AT&T, and now it looks like the handset will also be available at U.S. Cellular (a bit surprising, since U.S. Cellular is only a regional carrier).
Apparently, the Desire has appeared on a U.S. Cellular rebate form leaked via Howard Forums, which suggests that the handset might be released before July 15.
No word yet on pricing, of course, but it’s worth mentioning that U.S. Cellular currently sells the HTC Touch Pro2 for $200 on contract, so the Desire might have a similar price.
At the moment, the HTC Desire is available only in Europe, via carriers like Vodafone and T-Mobile. The handset’s main features include a 3.7 inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, GPS, 5MP autofocus camera, and 1GHz Snapdragon processor.
LG Viewty GT (GT405) launched by 3 UK
3 UK has just launched a new LG phone dubbed Viewty GT. By the looks of it, this is the LG GT405, showcased by LG back in March.
The Viewty GT features a 3 inch resistive touchscreen display with 240 x 400 pixels, 3G connectivity, A-GPS, Google Maps, Bluetooth, music player, Facebook access, 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash, 60MB of internal memory and MicroSD card support.
Since it’s offered via 3, the LG Viewty GT also comes with Windows Live Messenger and Skype preinstalled (for Skype-to-Skype calls).
You can get the LG Viewty GT from 3 UK for free, if you’re willing to sign an 18-month contract agreement of at least £15 per month. The phone is also available on PAYG for £119.99.
Pantech Sirius with Android 2.1 and Snapdragon processor announced; Verizon and AT&T might get it
Pantech, South Korea’s third-largest phone maker, has just announced its first Android device, the Pantech Sirius IM-A600S.
The Sirius is a thin (11.5 mm) full-touch smartphone with features that put it next to the likes of Google Nexus One and HTC Desire.
The handset runs Android 2.1 and comes with a 3.7 inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Wi-Fi, T-DMB, DivX support, 5MP camera, 500MB of internal memory, and an 8GB memory card in the box.
Pantech Sirius IM-A600S will be available in South Korea starting this month, via SK telecom. The handset’s price will be of 900,000 won (about $810).
Pantech says that it’s currently in talks with Verizon, AT&T and Japan’s KDDI for launching Android smartphones – it’s not clear yet if the Sirius is included here, but it might be.
Gigabyte-made Orange Boston Android smartphone confirmed, coming soon in white
The Gigabyte GSmart G1305 Codfish is indeed coming to Orange, as we assumed last month, and is indeed called Boston (which is not that weird, since the carrier also has phones dubbed Rome, New York, Vegas and Miami).
Running Android 1.6, the Orange Boston features a 3.2 inch touchscreen display with 480 x 320 pixels, trackball, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0, 3.5mm headset jack, 5MP camera, MicroSD card support, 256MB of RAM, and a 600MHz processor from Qualcomm.
As seen in the renderings below, the Boston will be launched by Orange in white:
The Orange Boston should be available in the UK, Spain, Poland and Romania starting this month. It’s said that the smartphone will be offered for only €1 on select contracts.
