'S.H.Eroes' dish out love tips

WITH their new album titled Shero, the three members of Taiwanese pop group S.H.E seem to have evolved into sophisticated, mature women.

No more the cutesy greenhorns who appeared on the Mandopop scene 10 years ago, Selina Jen and Ella Chen, both 28, and Hebe Tien, 27, now exude sassiness and confidence.

Now that they are all grown up, have they found love?

Jen said: 'Honestly, I've always been very clueless when it comes to love, even till today.

'Since our childhood days, we've been learning so many things, including the ways of the world, but our textbooks just don't teach us how to deal with relationships.

'How do we get along with our boyfriends? How do we handle break-ups? I've been stumbling along all this while.'

So far, Jen has been linked to singer Lee Hom, compere Mickey Huang and singer-host Show Luo.

She said: 'As girls grow older, it's inevitable that they make more friends of the opposite sex.

'It's normal and celebrities are like normal people. We need friends around us too, whether they're male or female.'

Tien, the baby of the group, professes to be the 'calmest' of the three when it comes to matters of romance.

Love guru

Chen jokingly calls her 'the love guru of S.H.E', the group's 'mentor' who will help her friends analyse relationship problems and provide them with her eager suggestions.

Tien's principle in love is simple.

'As a girl, you've just got to start loving yourself more,' she said. 'Once you've loved yourself, charisma will ooze naturally from inside of you; you will become more confident and guys will start to find you a lot more attractive and appealing.'

Her words of advice to all ladies looking for love: If you don't love yourself, no one will!

S.H.E will be in town to perform at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Saturday.

While other Taiwanese girl groups have come and gone - anyone remember Kiss, 4 In Love, or Sunday Girls? - Jen, Chen and Tien have remained a force to reckon with. Not only have they released successful albums individually, they've gone on to act in idol dramas, taken on hosting stints and are advertisers' favourite go-to-celebrities for endorsements.

'We have been very lucky,' said Jen humbly.

'When we started out in the music industry, our company (H.I.M International Music) gave us several opportunities to go for classes where we really honed our skills in various aspects of entertainment.

'We were like sponges, absorbing as much as we could.'
