Samsung Galaxy S gets video unboxing

Back when we reviewed the Samsung Wave, while we loved its Super AMOLED display and swift 1GHz Hummingbird processor, we also felt the Samsung Galaxy S with Android 2.1 would be a better bet for most consumers than the new bada OS. Happily that’s something we can test out now, since there’s a Samsung Galaxy S fresh to the test bench at Android Community today.

Packing a 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, TouchWiz 3.0 UI, WiFi b/g/n, triband UMTS and Bluetooth 3.0, the Galaxy S certainly ticks the specs boxes. Hands-on, the display leaves no room for disappointment, even managing to put HTC’s AMOLED technology – as on the Nexus One and Desire – to shame with its right, bright colors and crisp resolution.

It’s also impressively swift, with menus whipping past and webpages rendering almost instantaneously. Pinch-zooming shows none of the lag we’ve seen on other recent, less powerful Android handsets, and screen rotation happens without a pause.

We’ve shared more first-impressions over at Android Community, so head there for full details. We’ll have the full review of the Galaxy S very soon.
