Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G launches with a software bug. Gets fixed within hours

If you have been waiting for HTC EVO 4G, the latest and greatest Android superphone from Sprint, the wait is over.
Sprint has officially launched HTC EVO 4G handset today, and you can pick one up for $199, on a two year contract at a local Sprint store, RadioShack, Walmart, Best Buy, or online.
Since it’s announcement during CTIA in April, Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G was probably the most hyped up Android smartphone in U.S. We’ll have to wait and see how that translates into actual demand. But, just in case Sprint has a huge blockbuster on it’s hands, be aware that Verizon and HTC are having big troubles keeping up with demand for the second most hyped Android handset in U.S. – Droid Incredible. So if you really want to get your EVO 4G soon, be sure to do it ASAP.
Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G launch today didn’t go without some problems. Company spokesman acknowledged that some EVO 4G handsets have a software glitch, that may prevent you from saving files on the handset’s 8GB MicroSD memory card.
But Sprint has already fix for this bug underway, and it’s already being pushed as automatic over-the-air update to all EVO 4G phones.
One note of caution – if you have been planning to root your new HTC EVO 4G, do not install this latest OTA update just yet. According to Unrevoked, the guys who are behind the original EVO root, this new patch breaks that and locks the device again.
But Unrevoked are already looking into it, so, hopefully, we’ll get a new root in a few days.
