Amber Kuo wins "Best New Talent" at Taipei Film Festival, unaware of 100,000 TWD cash award
Amber Kuo recently won "Best New Talent" at Taipei’s Film Festival. Originally a singer, Amber rushed to the interview scene as soon as she heard she had received this award. She humbly said: “When one is both a singer and an actress, it’s really hard to receive confirmation from both sides of the industry.”
Not only did Amber Kuo’s most recent album "Fireworks/Yan Huo" topped the charts on G-Music and 5-Music, she has been invited to endorse multiple brands. Many more people have now come to know her through her commercials. After receiving this [Best New Talent] award, Amber was overly excited.
When she first heard of this good news, she called Wu Nian Zhen, her godfather and also the director of "The Happy Times of That Year". In the end, Wu Nian Zhen joked backstage: “How come you weren’t even at the awards ceremony? I had no choice but to cheer for nothing then.”
Amber tried to explain that she couldn’t make it due to a sing-sign event.
She wasn’t even aware that this "Best New Talent" award came with a 100,000 TWD cash award. When she found out, Amber announced on her blog that she would hold a banquet to thank the festival’s judges, film cast, friends, record company colleagues etcs: “I couldn’t make it to the awards ceremony since my sing-sign event ran 10 minutes late. But thanks much to Wu Nian Zhen who was cheering for me below stage.”
After receiving this newcomer award, Amber received a 2,500,000 TWD endorsement for the car brand KIA. When press mentioned that artistes who win at the Taipei Film Festival usually do the same at the Golden Horse Film Festival, Amber commented that she may have broken the streak since she was unable to receive the award on stage. However, based on her current success in her career, it seems that a Golden Horse awards isn’t far off for Amber Kuo.
