Gleeks, get ready! Cast of hit show start shooting second season wearing luminous New York T-shirts
It has gone from being a little-known U.S. TV show to becoming one of the most popular television phenomenons of all time.
Today the cast of Glee have gathered to start shooting the second season of the show, and appeared to be determined to make it even more successful this time around.
Wearing black T-shirts with the words New York City spelled out in fluroscent letters, Cory Monteith (Finn), Lea Michele (Rachel), Dianna Agron (Quinn), Chris Colfer (Kurt) and Amber Riley (Mercedes) looked thrilled to be back together as they started shooting.
While few details have been released about second season storylines, fans near the Los Angeles set of the show revealed they heard Alicia Keys' Empire State Of Mind playing, suggesting the opening episode includes more than one reference to the Big Apple.
It was recently revealed that the first episode of the second season, entitled Auditions, will present the idea that daily life is an audition for something.
And as the first season of Glee included guest appearances from Olivia Newton-John and Josh Groban, fans of the series are hopeful that the second series will also feature some famous faces.
Some of the names being suggested include Britain's Got Talent star Susan Boyle and Sir Paul McCartney, although Jane Lynch, who plays the sarcastic cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, said she couldn't quite believe it when she heard the Beatles legend was a fan of the show.
She said: 'I am a big Beatles fan. He's one of those geniuses in this world that's alive today, that we can point to and say "blessed by the muse", and for him to be a fan of this show is just so moving and blows my mind.'
Jane also revealed the cast are currently filming both the opening episode of the second series, and the highly-anticipated Britney Spears episode.
Speaking about the Britney/Brittany show, Glee creator Ryan Murphy said: 'My favourite thing about the Britney Spears thing is Matthew Morrison, who plays Will Schuester, was asked on the red carpet if we were doing it, and he said, "Oh, I hope not." So the entire episode is him saying "No, we're not doing Britney Spears!" '
Ryan also revealed that Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem will be making a guest appearance on the show because he is such a huge fan.
He said: 'Javier requested it. He bought the first 13 episodes on DVD and became obsessed with it. He said it was like crack.
'He is such a ham that it totally makes sense that he would want to sing and dance.
'He is going to play some demented rock star/substitute teacher. We haven't figured that out yet!'
