Nintendo on Monday announced that it will drop the retail price of its Nintendo DSi and DSi XL video game systems to $149.99 and $169.99, respectively.
The prices go into effect Sept. 12, just in time for the very beginning of the fourth quarter and its holiday sales.
The company said its Nintendo DS Lite model will remain at a retail price of $129.99.
Both systems feature two built-in cameras and photo- and sound-manipulation software, as well as the ability to wirelessly upload photos to Facebook via wireless broadband Internet connectivity.
According to the NPD Group, sales of its DS family of portable video game systems surpassed 42.3 million in the U.S. through the end of July.
