Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type puts a touchscreen on your Series 40 featurephone
Nokia has just announced the X3-02 Touch and Type – one of the most interesting S40 phones ever, because it’s the first to have a fully functional touchscreen display (2.4 inch, QVGA).
It also has a standard alphanumeric keypad, and that makes it even more interesting.
Sure enough, the idea isn’t new: Nokia has made somewhat similar handsets before, like the 3208c and 6208c. But those are made exclusively for the Chinese market, are stylus-operated and I have my doubts about them being full-touch enabled.
The X3-02 is only 9.6 mm thick and features:
- GSM 850/900/1800/1900
- WCDMA/HSPA 850/900/1900/2100
- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
- Facebook and Twitter integration
- Bluetooth 2.1
- 3.5mm headset jack
- Stereo FM radio with RD
- 5MP camera with video recording
- MicroSD card support (up to 16GB)
- brushed aluminum cover
I really dig the design of the new X3 and I hope the S40 touch UI’s functionality won’t disappoint.
An official video preview of the Nokia X3-02 can be seen below:
The Nokia X3 Touch and Type will be available starting this quarter – thus in September the latest – in five color versions: White Silver, Petrol Blue, Lilac, Pink and Dark Metal (for Bethlehem fans – kidding). The phone costs €125 ($161) before taxes and subsidies and it will be launched not only in China, but also in the UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and other markets.
The X3-02 Touch and Type is the third Nokia X3 phone, after the X3 slider and the CDMA-based X3.
