Nominees for the 10th annual CCTV-MTV Music Honors Awards have been announced and public voting will start Wednesday, September 8, according to Sohu.com.
Viewers will be able to log on and vote for their favorite performers and songs at either MtvChina.com or CNTV.cn, or SMS their votes from their cell phones.
Actress-turned singer Zhao Wei, also known as Vicky Zhao, is nominated for best female singer on the mainland. She was featured in John Woo's film "Red Cliff"(2008) and won best actress at last year's Changchun Film Festival for her performance in "Mulan".
Another actor-turned singer Chen Kun, Zhao's co-star in that movie, is nominated for best male singer on the Chinese Mainland.
Taiwan's Chang Huimei and Hong Kong's Karen Mok are in competition for best female singer from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, while Wang Lee-Hom and Jay Chou are among the nominees for best male singer in those areas.
First-time nominees from the group Phoenix Legend say it is great honor for them to be nominated with other high-caliber musicians.
The 10th CCTV-MTV Music Honors will be held on Oct. 18 in Beijing.
The event will be broadcast by CCTV-3, who will show highlights of past ceremonies and performances by this year's nominees.
