Lindsay Lohan's Movie Producer: She Can Overcome Her Disease
The producer of Lindsay Lohan's next movie project, Inferno, is taking issue with a report that he and his co-producer are "beyond irritable" with the actress's setback regarding her drug test, though he is adapting a "wait-and-see" attitude regarding how the film will progress.
But he does stand behind his star.
"The only producers in question would be Jordan Gertner or myself, and we are not expressing irritation, nor ' beyond irritated' to anyone – that is not to say we would not be upset over a breach of the court by Lindsay that has affected her personally, or the potential production schedule or location of the production significantly," producer Chris Hanley tells PEOPLE.
He added, "We are way not happy to not be making this movie this year as planned, and if the ability to shoot in a film incentive program state is not available due to travel limitation placed on Lindsay, that would be a concern, but that cannot be addressed until it is known."
As for the movie, which is a biopic about the victimized porn star Linda Lovelace, Hanley also said, "We do believe that Lindsay's talent does weigh very heavily in this matter. Addictive personality disorder issues are pervasive in the film industry. I have worked with Robert Downey and others on movies I have made, and, frankly, talent and passion for a project matter the most to me."
Director Thrown for U-Turn
Inferno's director, Matt Wilder, also discounted any reports that the filmmakers are pissed at Lohan. "Did this throw us for a U-turn? Sure," he tells PEOPLE. "But no one has conveyed any pissiness about it."
He added that plans are till set to begin filming in New Orleans Nov. 15, though this may change depending upon what Judge Elden Fox rules in Lindsay's case.
Wilder says he was touched by Lohan's Tweet about how she is a work in progress and makes mistakes. "This is not something to be pissed about," says the director. "If someone fails a drug test but says I am trying hard and struggling, it's hard for me to be angry."
By her own admission Friday, Lohan, 24, says, "Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn’t go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps forward every single day and doing what I must do to prevent any mishaps in the future."
According to Hanley, "Lindsay's talent and my first-hand knowledge of Lindsay from experience, since I have known her for some years and was with her in Cannes at the Film Festival where she was promoting Inferno, is that she can overcome her particular disease."
Seen Sipping Alcoholic Drinks
As for Lohan, after her 10 p.m. Twitter confession that she had failed a random drug test, she headed to a late-night dinner with friends at Magnolia in Hollywood.
"She looked very happy and relaxed," an eyewitness tells PEOPLE, while a restaurant source adds: "The news about her flunked drug test definitely didn't seem to have dampened her mood. Lindsay was smiling, chatting with her friends and texting nonstop."
When it came to what she ingested, the source said, "She had little nibbles of food and seemed to enjoy her night out. Lindsay's friends ordered vodka-based cocktails, and Lindsay initially kept sneaking sips from their drinks.
She was aware that other dinner guests were watching her, and it seemed silly that she thought she was being sneaky and that no one would notice that she was drinking her friends' cocktails."
