Will Paris Hilton Make a Plea Deal in Cocaine Arrest?
Can Paris Hilton avoid returning to jail?
The heiress, who served three weeks in 2007 for violating probation in a drunken driving case, has been offered a peal deal in her recent cocaine bust, E! News reports.
Hilton, 29, has been charged with felony drug possession after an Aug. 28 arrest in Las Vegas but would reportedly avoid any time behind bars if she pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges – one drug count and one count of lying to an officer.
Hilton's lawyer would not confirm or deny the report, telling PEOPLE he would not "talk about this case except in court." A spokesman for the Clark County District Attorney's office also declined to comment.
The socialite is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 27. The felony drug charge carries a maximum sentence of four years in prison if convicted.
Hilton told authorities she thought the cocaine found in her purse was gum and said she had borrowed the purse from a friend.
