She may be a California Gurl, but Katy Perry is fully embracing Indian tradition as she prepares to marry Russell Brand on Saturday.
The American singer was spotted sporting an Indian bridal nose ring - otherwise known as a nath - as she arrived at Jaipur airport today.
The nath comprises of a gold chain attached to a nose ring which is hooked across the bride's right cheek and pinned to her hair above the ear.
Tradition dictates the bride's will wear the nath throughout the wedding day, with the bridegroom removing it on the wedding night as a symbol of the woman's virginity ending.
After transferring from Jaipur at Mumbai's international airport, the unusually shy pop star attempted to hide her new face adornment under her coat.
Rather than have the piercing in India, she chose to have it done in London instead, where she has been staying with her future husband since jetting in from LA last week.
And while Russell wheeled their luggage through Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport before boarding their 90 minute flight to Jaipur, Katy's attempts to keep a low profile only made her stand out even more.
However she had shed her coat by the time the couple arrived at India's Jaipur Airport, where they were picked up in a Mercedes.
The singer appeared to be similarly camera shy when they set off from Heathrow Airport last night.
Although Katy - dressed in black trousers and matching boots - kept her coat on at Heathrow, she still tried her best to maintain a low profile.
Meanwhile Russell - wearing a brown leather coat and big sunglasses - looked uncharacteristically serious.
The wedding will be taking place at the same hotel - the luxurious Rambagh Palace - where Russell popped the question on New Year's Eve.
The comedian proposed to the chart-topping singer just three months after they started dating, in a romantic evening which included a private dinner and fireworks at midnight.
They will be joined by around 85 guests for the traditional Indian celebration, which began on Tuesday and is expected to last until the main event on Saturday.
These are expected to include Jonathan Ross and his wife Jane Goldman, Little Britain star David Walliams and his wife Lara Stone, and R&B singer Rihanna, who will be Katy's maid of honour.
Reports suggest there will be five different parties - including an outdoor event in the Rajasthan desert resort of Aman-i-Khas - in the run up to the big day.
Guests will also have the chance to enjoy safaris in the adjacent Ranthambore National Park.
Katy is expected to have her hands decorated with henna tattoos in a traditional Indian pre-wedding ritual, while the ceremony itself will feature many traditional Hindu elements including Russell reportedly arriving on a white horse.
However, he recently revealed that much of the wedding - which will also feature fireworks, a band and live music from hip-hop star P Diddy - will be no different to anybody else's nuptials.
'It will have a first dance, it will have all of them things, like anything else,' he said.
'It’s no more interesting or no less spectacular than any marriage of anybody, so it’s very beautiful and incredible and wonderful, but it’s also utterly mundane.’
Other family members and wedding guests have been arriving in Jaipur, including Russell Brand's mother Barbara.
Katy's parents Keith and Mary Hudson were also spotted as they arrived at Jaipur Airport on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Katy has been reportedly getting stressed ahead of her big day and recently appeared to have suffered a recurrence of the acne she has admitted to breaking out in when she is stressed.
Katy also recently spoke of her desire for a small wedding with only a small number of guests - which the couple are having, despite their lavish setting.
'I always have a ton of people around me, and I think the people that are going to share this moment are the ones we want to integrate into each other's lives,' she said.
