American Idol: Is everybody from Denver going to Hollywood?

Ryan Seacrest notes the importance of coming to the audition dressed to impress (as David Bowie's Fashion plays in the background).

Casey James isn't particularly well-dressed, but he comes with a compelling backstory. A motorcycle accident when he was 21 resulted in multiple fractures and a diagnosis that he would never play guitar again. His goal for now is Hollywood. "If I could just get there, I really think I've got a shot," he says.

Casey's version of John Mayer's Slow Dancing in a Burning Room fails to impress Simon.

"No charisma, no effort," Simon says. The girls beg to differ. "He looks like a model," Kara says, but she notes that he does need to work on his personality. Kara and Victoria finally press upon Randy to vote yes, so he'll get a chance to be dull in Hollywood, too. Or get better.

Californian Tori Kelly, 16, comes with either her own fan club, or a kindergarten-age entourage, it's hard to tell which. Victoria is inclined to like Tori, finding her gorgeous and well-dressed. Tori also sings a John Mayer song, Gravity, and Simon finds her voice "almost annoying" and later comparing her to "a human orange." Again, Victoria and Kara like her, and Randy joins them. "I think these three are mad, but there you go," Simon says.

What American Idol doesn't tell you: Tori once sang on America's Most Talented Kids.
