Fears for Lindsay Lohan's health as she is spotted with 'prescription drugs'

Stepping out of her SUV for a night on the town, Lindsay Lohan was all smiles and doe eyes as she played up to the papparazzi.

But a closer look inside her car revealed an open handbag - and what looked suspiciously like prescription pills.

The image of the tablets inside the bag - nestled among her lipstick, hairbrush and wallet - has raised fears the star may be slipping back to her old ways.

In October, Lindsay's father Michael said he was 'terrified' his daughter would suffer the same fate as Heath Ledger and Michael Jackson and die from a prescription drugs overdose.

He told the U.S. website Radar: "I hate it when people talk about illegal drug abuse, because it's not just drinking and illegal drugs that kill you. Prescription drugs can destroy and kill a person and are sometimes harder to stop. Look at Heath Ledger and Michael Jackson.'

Mr Lohan wouldn't reveal exactly what kind of medications Lindsay was on at the time but said he was certain they were taking over her life.

'You know why Lindsay's not acting in feature films right now? Because she can't,' he said. 'Because the girl with all the talent is hidden and buried deep inside this fungus that's grown because of the prescription drugs. She can't be herself.'

Actress Brittany Murphy died suddenly at the age of 32 on December 20 last year. A large stash of prescription drugs were found at her home, although the coroner is still awaiting the results of toxicology tests before he announces the cause of her death.

Just a fortnight after Brittany's death, American socialite Casey Johnson was also found dead. The 30-year-old Johnson and Johnson heiress, who had a history of drug abuse, was discovered in her Los Angeles apartment on January 4.
