China's Version of "Pandamen" rejected; Malaysia has no intention of changing versions

Petaling Jaya, Selangor: Due to executive director Jay Chou (Zhou Dong) insisting that <Pandamen> be re-edited for airing on CTS, previously sold China versions have been rejected! According to Taiwanese media reports, Hong Kong's TVB has confirmed that they are not going to air China's version, with Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand following suit, all changing to the Taiwanese version that Zhou Dong edited himself. However, 8TV's spokesperson denied this saying, "<Pandamen> has already aired mid-way on 8TV, we have no intentions of airing another version at this moment."<Pandamen> in China and Taiwan are polar opposites; although the China version has 2nd, 3rd place ratings in that nation, but violent content were all cut out due to conservative public sentiment, provoking netizens to criticize it harshly as "retarded" and unfathomable. The Taiwanese version re-edited by Zhou Dong has received positive reviews, and overseas investors also want Zhou Dong's Taiwanese version. TVB has now changed to the Taiwanese version, and are unwilling to air the China version.
On CTS's website, netizens also showed strong support for Jay Chou, calling the China version a "run-down version", which became disjointed due to the restrictive editing, causing Jay Chou to be discredited.
Approximately 500 thousand people watching last Friday
<Pandamen> which started airing on 8TV since February 2nd, although bearing the stigma of negative reviews stemming from China's broadcast, has received opposite results here in Malaysia with viewership ratings steadily increasing; there were approximately 500 thousand people watching just last Friday alone.
8TV's spokesperson revealed to <Ent Sinchew>, <Pandamen> is airing at the primetime slot at 8.30pm, and usually for the idol dramas at this timeslot, the highest viewership rating achieved was of 1 million people watching, with the average of 600 to 800 thousand people. Although <Pandamen> has not reached this figure so far, she explained: "This is because the drama started airing close to Chinese New Year, many people are out doing their New Year shopping; we have the confidence that after Chinese New Year, <Pandamen>'s viewership ratings will continue to rise."
